NOTES:

Anna Shackelford, mentioned in the 1860 census along with a daughter, Elmila> Anna was most likely the wife of Frances Shackelford and Elvira (1850) and Elmila (1860) are most likely the same Frances would have passed away by this time.

They had a son by the name of Richard. This most likely is Richard Nunn listed in the 1860 census. Elizabeth Shackelford (1870) shows to be widowed, with four sons, Robert, William, Thomas & Richard, Jr. In the 1880 census, a Richard Shackelford appears in the home of Emmer Stoval, however Elizabeth Shackelford does not show anywhere. It's my guess she must have passed away and left young Richard Shackelford Jr in the care of Ms. Stovall

From "The Shackelford Clan Magazine" Vol 1 # 10 page 6

"Thomas Dick Shackelford first saw the light of day June 17, 1860, in Carroll County, GA. He was born the son of Richard Nunn Shackelford and Elizabeth Ursula Jones. He passed to his eternal reward December 05, 1945, in Atlanta, GA. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. G.A. Baldini, of New York, and sons W.T. & T.H. of Atlanta and C.B. of Monroe, LA. Also a brother, Richard Jones Shackelford, of Carrollton, GA."

Notes on the family of James Carlisle Shackelford. James was the grandson of Mordecai and Sarah Jones-Shackelford from Abbeyville, SC., and the son of Howard B and Margaret Carlisle-Shackelford. James and Margaret appear in the 1850 Meriwether County, GA census, near his parents. James and Margaret moved to Carroll County, two house away from Margarets parents and I belive a short distance from Richard Nunn Shackelford, however I haven't found out if they were related. Howard B and Margaret Shackelford, along with the rest of their family do not show up in any more GA census records. I'm not sure where they moved to or if something bad happened to them.

I do have a census index for the entire state of GA., 1820 through 1870. I also have most of the descendant information on James and Margaret Forbes-Shackelford and hope to get it all posted soon.
