Help, please - I have hit a brick wall in my search for the ancestors of Henry Shackleford, Sr., b. ca 1`736 in Virginia; d. 1805/1806 in Henry County, VA; Henry Shackleford, Sr.'s will was dated 31 Oct 1805 and probated 27 Jan 1806, in Henry County, VA.
I descend from his son, Henry Shackleford, Jr., b. 30 Aug 1764, in King William Co., VA; this Henry Shackleford, Jr. was a Rev War Vet.
Even a tiny bit of information will be appreciated. Thanks

Still searching for ancestors of Henry Shackleford. b. 1736, in Virginia; m. Mary Berry; d. 1805, with will dated 31 Oct 1805 and probated 27 Jan 1806,Henry County, VA. My decent is from his son, Henry Shackleford, Jr. and his 2nd wife, Nancy Crump.
Henry Shackleford, Jr. married 1st, Mary Shields, in Pittsylvania County, VA, on 28 Jan 1785. There were at least two (2), and probably more children born of this marriage; and two were posibly living with Henry when the 1810 Knox County, KY census was taken. Mary probably died before Henry came to Kentucky.
Henry married Nancy Crump 1 Apr 1801, in Harlan Co., KY.
I have some info that Henry, Sr.'s father may have been named John.
Any info concerning Henry Shackleford, Sr. is appreciated.

The land that is proved by Culpeper deeds is the same 2000 acres given to James Shackelford's widow Elizabeth Robbins Shackelford and son James by Henry Willis in 1734 in Spotsylvania Co. This 2000 acres (on the little fork of the Rappahannock River) was part of the land which formed Orange Co and then became part of Culpeper Co. The land passed from James Jr. who married Elizabeth Lewis to their son John who married Winifred. Originally, the land w0as partnershiped with Robert Freeman's widow Ann and son Robert Jr. The deeds in Culpeper Co also refer to a Robert Freeman as part owner with John Shackelford.
a) - I'm certainly in the middle on this - in that I am trying to locate the ancestors of Henry Shackleford, Sr. (above).
b) - The comment re Henry Shackleford, Sr. being the son of John & Ann Shackleford married in1734 in England, and having a another son, John, b. ca 1725, who married a Winnifred (surname unknown) was supplied by 22 Dec e-mail from Dorthy M. < KayBeeCee@aol.com > as follows:

In 1740, John Shackleford ( father of the one born 1725) was in King and Queen Co. VA..
1756 - John Shackleford was in Culpeper Co. ( Culpeper Co. Deed Book) I don't know which John he was.

My John Shackelford (5th grandfather) was married to Anne White. His father was James Shackelford, Jr., son of James and Elizabeth Robins-Shackelford. He was son of Roger Shackelford who came from England around 1650-58., married Mary Palmer. John had a son named Mordecai, his son was Howard, his son James C, then another John, Young Lee, Zeddie and me.
I have read stories about different Henry Shackelford's, but you are the first one to mention another line from England. Keep in touch: Donnie

My early Shackleford ancestor was Henry Shackleford, Sr, born about 1736, in Virginia; he died 1805/1806 in Henry Coynty, Virginia; Henry Shackleford, Sr.'s will was dated 31 Oct 1805 and probated 27 Jan 1806, in Henry County, VA.. His wife is said to have been named Mary, and her surname may have been Berry.
I descend from his son, Henry Shackleford, Jr, & his 2nd wife, Nancy Crump.
Henry Shackleford, Jr.'s Revolutionary War Veteran Pension Papers, written 4 Nov 1833, Harlan County, KY; and Nancy (Crump) Shackleford's application for a Revolutionary War Widow's Pension, written 28 Oct 1856, Harlan County, KY; (Claim No. W10251) are on file in the National Archives, Washington, D.C.
I wonder if you may have informtaion as to Henry Shackleford, Sr.'s ancestry? I would be most appreciative of ANY info you may have. Thank you, Roland Miracle
