I found "Brief Memoirs of John Shackleford, M.D." thru inter-library loan. Part of it looks to be written by his son James Shackleford.
Dr. John Shackleford, of Maysville, KY, was born on March 8, 1801(?) in Mason county, KY. Dr. Shackleford's father was James Shackleford (born in Fauquier county, VA). Dr. Shackleford's mother was Elizabeth Clarke(?) and a native of Northumberland County, VA.
Is this a known writing to most Shackleford researchers? (22 pages)
Looking for information on the following family.
Henrietta "Hennie" Ross married __ (James?)SHACKELFORD/SHACKLEFORD.
Hennie had a sister Margaret (or Margaretta) Calhoun Ross (b.1833), Hennie probably had a brother, Dr. Will Ross.
There's a Ross Shackleford/Shackelford in this family.
Is Ross the son of Hennie Ross Shackelford?
Families lived in Madisonville, KY and/or Evansville, IN.
I'm related to Margaret Calhoun Ross who m. James Alexander Nisbet.
I have a letter written in Evansville, Indiana on Feb. 21, 1881 by Ross Shackelford that maybe his descendants would be interested in having a copy of.
Also 17 pages of writings by my great grandmother who was b. in 1860. She tells what it was like to live in Giddings, Lee county, Texas as a child and later about her new husband. She tells about a trip back to Madisonville, KY and etc.
Information and corrections would be appreciated.
