My daughter and I had a working lunch today and she has some information that I did not have. According to a bible record that my daughter found, Frances Ann Shackleford (b. 1833 at Selma, Alabama) was the daughter of E. F. A. Shackleford. However, we have no idea about any of the Shackleford family links beyond that.

Frances Ann Shackelford married William F. Carnahan, and they lived in Louisiana, along the Red River, near the town of Boyce, Louisiana, in Rapides Parish. Wm F Carnahan was born in Louisiana, sometime about 1820.

She was younger than he was. They lived in Louisiana and died there, as far as we know. I know not much else about her and the Shackelford family, but would appreciate learning more. Thanks for the help.

Let me give you some additional information which might help tie things into other Shackelford histories.

One of my Carnahan cousins recently sent me some information that she had in her files. I have not checked it all out, insofar as the dates, but it does seem to be authentic, insofar as the names and relationships.

Frances Ann Shackelford (b. 1833, in Rapides Parish, Louisiana) was the daughter of Samuel Bogle Shackelford.

Samuel Bogle Shackelford was the son of Edmund Frederick Agustus Shackelford (b. 3 Jan 1809 at Sparta, Hancock, Ga. d. 21 Dec 1854, Henderson Hill, Rapides,LA) and Mary Henderson Bogle (b. 4 January 1814 or 1816 at Selma, AL).

The father of E. F. A. Shackelford was Lt. James Shackelford and his mother was Martha Brodnax.

Samuel's mother was Mary Henderson Bogle (b. 4 Jan 1814/1816 at Selma, Bibb, AL. d. 19 Aug 1892/1894 at Cotile, Rapides, LA). Her father was Capt. Samuel H. Bogle and her mother was Rachael Henderson.

I hope that this information may provide additional clues. I am still checking into the dates, but think that the personal links are correct.

There are some problems with the dates, as I can see. I have asked for clarification and awaiting same.

I am not on the Shackelford mailing list, so it might be a good idea to post the information there also. We are workeing on the Shackelford data and ought to have it in good shape for the website soon. The months since my original posting of that data have been very productive and we now have much more about our special branch. When that is at a stopping point, I will send you the latest data and you can then "paste" it in place of the information that I originally gave you. As I have found, much of that data was in error and needs to be corrected by the new information.

My great great grandmother was Frances Ann Shackelford (b. 4 May 1833 at Selma, AL; d. October 31, 1929 in Rapides Parish, LA; m. William Franklin Carnahan bef. 1850, in Rapides Parish, LA).

Frances Ann Shackelford was a daughter of Edmund Frederick Augustus Shackelford (b. January 03, 1809 at Sparta, Hancock Co., GA; d. December 21, 1854 at Henderson Hill, Rapides Parish, Louisiana; m. Mary Henderson Bogle).

Other children of E.F.A. Shackelford and Mary Henderson Bogle were:
