I am searching for info on Melissa Shackelford born 1862 Ark. She married L.C.Estes (my ggg-grandfather) in Dallas Co. Tx. in Sept. 1875.
They are shown on the 1880 Hill Co. Tx census with three children:
Ann 3yrs,
Florence 2yrs,
Thomas 5mos.
Melissa stated that her parents were from Arkansas. She was only 15 when she had her first child so I feel that she must have come from Arkansas with her parents. I would appreciate any help.

Vol.E pg 234 Marriages Records of Dallas Co. Tx. You are welcome to add it your marriage list if you would like. You need one from Texas anyway.
Did you know that there was a Capt. Shackelford at the Fannin Massacre, Battle of Goliad that actually survived, there was another Shackelford that did not. I have names and documentation if you are ever interested. As a matter of fact I have not been researching Shackelford long but I do have an assortment of Shackleford data, mostly Texas with some Arkansas, Missouri and Illnios if anyone is ever interested. In my search to find the identity of the parents of my gg grandfather, Leonard Core Estes and his wife (my gg grandmother) Melissa (Malissa) J. Shackelford, I have found three Estes/Shackelford marriages.

Any info about these three Shackelford women would be appreciated.

When I first started researching my gggrandmother, Melissa J. Shackelford, I read on a web page (I believe it was in Tenn.) that the Shacklefords settled on Core Creek named for the Coree Indians. I did not note the page and now I can't find it. My gggrandfather was named Leonard Core Estes, he married Melissa. Does any one have any information about the Shacklefords and Core Creek?
