I am seeking the parents and syblings of Warner Shackleford (c.1765 - Sept. 18, 1865). He married Rebecca Stephen(s) in Fauquier Co., Va., on Jan. 16, 1804. Warner is my gt.-gt.-gt. grandfather. My gt.-gt. grandfather, Warner Washington Shackleford, was also married in Fauquier Co. He married Susan Jane Kearns on Jan. 18, 1830.

Hi Patricia,  Sorry I took so long to answer. I teach high school math and we are in the middle of finals. Graduation was last night. I will try to answer your questions in order.

We are talking of the same John Shackleford who married Gertrude Beall.

Warner and Rebecca Stephens had a total of ten children, including (I think) my gt.-gt. grandfather, Warner.

James William Shackleford's birthdate and site were given to me by his daughter, Alma Beatrice. She was the youngest of thirteen.

We do have some red heads in our family. Aunt Alma was a red head. Her father, James William, was said to have had blue-eyes and black hair. We always thought the red hair came from Susan Jane Kearnes. She was a red headed Irish lady.

Hundred is about 1 1/2 hours from Buchhannon. My two oldest sons attended college at WV Wesleyan.

Molly Shackleford Lamb is my first cousin. I have been working on my family history and that of my Wife's since 1967.

It would be a real treat to be able to link Warner with the other Shackleford families.

Look forward to hearing from you soon.  Bernard

Note from Patricia: My great grandfather Robert Carter Shackleford, s/o James Carter & Mourning (Garrison) Shackleford had red hair.
