My name is Jim Pruett. I live in Canyon Lake, TX. I have lived here almost three years. I am originally from the Memphis, TN. area.
My Mother was a Shackleford. The spelling of the name is very controversial in our family. My Mother's name was spelled Shackleford on her birth certificate. One of her brothers spelled it that way, but the other three spelled it Shackelford.
I don't know how her sisters spelled it. Most of the information I Have found on my Grandfather has spelled his name Shackleford but I haven't found anything that was first hand information.
I waited too late to get into genealogy. My Mother's generation is all gone except for one of her sisters, and she is unable to tell us anything.
My Grandfather was originally from Desoto Co. Ms. He lived in Tate Co. Ms. after marrying my grandmother. Her maiden name was Busby. I think they lived the last 40 years or so of Granddaddy's life in the Memphis, TN. area. Granddaddy died in 1964.
Granddaddy's name was Walter J. Shackleford and he was married to Mae Busby. If anyone has any information on them I would greatly appreciate hearing from them.
