Things To Be Thankful For

The mess to clean up after a party,     surrounded by friends.

The taxes to pay,
because it means you are employed.

The clothes that fit a little too snugly,
because it means you have enough
     food to eat.

A lawn that needs mowing, windows
     that need cleaning, and gutters
     that need fixing,
because it means you have a home.

All the complaining you hear about
     our government,
because it means we have freedom
     of speech.

The space you find at the far end of
     the parking lot,
because it means you are capable
     of walking.

Your huge heating bill,
because it means you are warm.

The lady behind you in church who
     sings off key,
because it means that you can hear.

The piles of laundry and ironing,
because it means you have clothes
     to wear.

Weariness and aching muscles at the
     end of the day,
because it means you have
     been productive.

The alarm that goes off in the early
     morning hours,
because it means that you are alive.

Getting too much e-mail that might
     bog you down,
but at least you know you have
friends who are thinking of you.
