Ayanna- She was a very emotional person. Her mother had cancer, and since her mom's her best friend, Ayanna had a very hard time dealing with it. She was accused of practicing voodoo by Pua and Veronica, which she still firmly denies. She was the most dramatic of all the cast members. She had a very loud personality, and wasn't afraid to voice her opinions. She got along the worst with Veronica. They were always having battles and never seemed to really get along. To this day, she doesn't keep in touch with Veronica. Her outbreaks were what made this season. I really liked her and sympathized for her.

Pawel- He was the guy who closed himself off from the group throughout the season. He kept to himself and wasn't very open emotionally. His major and love is photography. During the photo safari mission, when Veronica won the camera, Pawel was very disappointed and upset. He is from Warsaw, Poland, but was raised by his mother in a very poor Brooklyn, New York neighborhood. Pawel stood back during all the commotion and made sure to never get involved in it all. He was quiet, but bonded best with Shawn and Yes.

Pua- This native Hawaiian's real name is Marlene. She changed it to Pua, which means "flower" in Hawaiian. She often got caught in the middle of the fights between her two friends, Ayanna and Veronica. She was sweet and a really great friend. At the same time, Pua was an outrageous person. During the course of the trip, she got her head shaved, and her nipples pierced. Pua wants to join the Peace Corps. During one of the missions in India, she saw that the elephants involved in the mission were being beaten. She took on an animal activist attitude and refused to participate in the mission. She said she might look into animal rights for her career. Pua was my favorite female cast member.

Shawn- He was the nice guy of the group. Shawn was funny and liked to joke around a lot. He is known to play harmless pranks on his friends and acquaintances. He had a fling with another Semester At Sea student, named LaToya. Shawn was known as a best friend to both Yes and Pawel. He grew up in a very poor neighborhood in Boston, Massachussets. He has been strong throughout his hard life, and dealt with it nicely. He stood back from the drama, like Pawel and was hard to fight with. Shawn showed off his body a lot, because he claimed that he used to be self-conscious of his body, and now got over that. He was a great guy and one of my favorite cast members.

Veronica- She got into the most fights of anyone and most of the time, started them. Veronica had a hard time dealing with Ayanna, and hurt her emotionally numerous times. Even her friends are quick to say that she can be rude and conniving and sometimes downright mean. But, they also say that once she lets you in she can be a "true and great friend". Though most viewers strongly disliked Veronica, I say she's an interesting person and can be caring. She showed her really kind side on the Real World/Road Rules Challenge 2000. She is especially close with her mother and her parents got divorced at an early age. She has tried to contact her father, but he hasn't responded. She is so much like Ayanna, especially in terms of family situations, that it started conflicts between the two. I liked her.

Yes- He was my favorite cast member. Yes kept a laid-back and cool disposition. Though, he attended classes the least of the group, he still got the highest score on the exam (a B) of the group. Tell me that isn't intelligence. He is known to "party hard, but study harder". *Teenybopper moment* Yes is sooo hot!!!! Sorry, had to get that off my chest :) He had a relationship with another Semester At Sea student, named Alissa. He had to choose between Alissa and another S.A.S. student, Robin during the trip, and was happy with his choice. When none of his family came at the end of the voyage to welcome Yes home, Alissa's family took that role. During the Ayanna/Veronica/Pua chronicles, Yes usually backed up, but sometimes took on the peacemaker part. He got along with everyone, especially Shawn and Pawel. He can be seen on the Real World/Road Rules Challenge 2000 with Veronica. He seemed more open during the Challenge. He travelled in Europe, Asia, and Africa with 4 other UC Berkeley students to help people after S.A.S. and the Challenge ended. For info on that, you can go to : http://www.nomadic5.com *News!
