Michael left the Heritage Hotel in Brisbane on Tuesday evening (2nd Dec) and is winging his way onward. There is still no confirmed reports of a return tour, etc, though the Wembly crowds will be please to hear he is expected to be back, fleet-of-foot and fighting fit for the continuation of the tour with the performances in January 1998 in Wembly.
Here follows a recap for those who have only just found out....
Recap.
Much to the surprise of many and the despair of some, we learnt that our beloved Michael was suffering an illness that many have experienced and are therefore aware of the challenges he is facing. In Adelaide, South Australia on Tues 25th November, it was noted by some (and reported in the paper rather caustically) that Michael danced in such a way as to concern some. He was coughing on stage during Dangerous Games and there was no flute jam or encore.
Thursday night, 27th November, opening night in Brisbane, saw another situation that was a little distressing to some (particularly some Vbers in the front row), Michael appeared to look unwell, was not his usual happy, determined, strong, cheeky, enthusiastic self. Again there was no flute jam, and there was this time, no Planet Ireland. Later it was reported that he was rushed to hospital suffering either pneumonia or bronchial asthma, and admitted to St Andrews Private.
Friday evening, the receptionist at St Andrews said that he is smiling, gracious, happy and thankful to all for the great care he is receiving. There also seems to be a sudden interest amongst the staff in the arrival of the florist delivery vans..... seems there are many willing volunteers who want to deliver the flowers to his room personally! Friday
and Saturday saw a marked improvement in his condition, but also a cancellation
of the remaining Brisbane shows. Saturday it appeared the rest of the Australian
and New Zealand tour was cancelled, and in the afternoon Michael was released
from hospital, to return to his hotel to continue resting.
Sunday
30th saw Michael still resting comfortably, there was no need for panic
as some totally unfounded reports of relapse were circulated, he was doing
well, and resting. By Tuesday he was finally well enough to travel, which
he has now done, an will spend Christmas preparing for a triumphant return
on the stage at Wembly in January! Lucky Wembly goers!!!
Through all this the troupe were deeply concerned about his well-being, some VBers have commented on the Thursday performance as containing some indications of their concern, ie; Bernie in the Warlords, and Daire at the end. The troupe (T1) have all gone home, consoled by the fact that they will be home for Christmas with their families.
So this
is it. Probably the last update for the time being. Please use this to
refer people to who may suddenly find out and come looking for info. Just
give them the address of this page if you think it appropriate. Thanks.

What can you do
You can send Michael the healing energy he needs to help him through his recovery. Remembering that "Where attention goes, energy flows" also keep in mind that the type of attention will matter strongly.
Michael needs positive, healing energy, not worry and despair. So focus on the picture you have of him that you love the most, a picture of him happy, smiling, joyous, victorious! Watch the video, especially at the end of the various numbers where they show him close up with that wonderful smile breaking out across his face, as he realizes that he has achieved his goal! A happy audience!
If you
like this is one picture of him that always comes to mind for me... it
epitomizes the sparkling happy, joyous energy that is Michael, and shines
out from him......
Here are some more, hope you find one you like, or if you have one you would like to add, please send it to me in an email.....
And
for you Michael, the spirit of healing, brought to you by a friend...
