Donnamarie K. Zolli
Candidate for the Roselle Park Board of Education - April 20, 1999 Vote #10
Donnamarie K. Zolli has been a resident of Roselle Park for ten years. She and her husband Al reside on Locust St. with their three children Christopher 10 and twins Stephen and Kaitlyn, 8. Her children currently attend Robert Gordon School. While majoring in Human Resources Management at Upsala College she interned as a counselor at the Youth Resources Center in Irvington. She is a member of Phi Chi Theta professional women's fraternity.
She was Director of Human Resources Management at Norton Lilly International, Inc. prior to becoming a stay at home mom. Donna is an active member of the Robert Gordon PTA. She has served two years as President and is currently completing her second year as First Vice-President. She has also chaired numerous committees including Safety, Publicity, and Founders Day. She is currently Second Vice-President of the Roselle Park Council of PTA's and has previously served as Treasurer. She has served on the Strategic Planning Committee and is currently Chairperson of the Parents' Advisory Council. Donna is a CCD teacher at Church of the Assumption. She was the coordinator of the Roselle Park Pop Warner Cheerleading program and Second Vice-President. She is an active member of the Roselle Park Youth Baseball League and has been a division mother and assistant to the 1st Vice President. "I am running for a seat on the Roselle Park Board of Education because I would like to work to assure quality education while maintaining control of the financial burden on the residents of Roselle Park. I approach this task knowing it will be a difficult balancing act between meeting the needs of students and the financial constraints of the homeowners.
Our students are faced today with many difficult challenges both educationally and socially. I believe it is important to focus on the "whole" student. The current state mandated testing structure presents our district with new areas to address academically while trying to maintain quality education. We must be sure our students have strong primary learning skills to build upon to meet the rigorous testing demands. My involvement in the community and the schools has afforded me the opportunity to be informed of the concern of the residents. I am concerned that our students will not remain competitive if we do not focus our energies on developing strong academic programs. I have seen the power of cooperation and volunteerism. Roselle Park has flourished because people of varied backgrounds and points of view have worked together to achieve goals to better this community. I feel strongly that as a Board member I would foster a climate of cooperation and compromise to offer our children what they deserve - The best possible educational experience.
