Guy Williams

Guy Williams landed the role of the masked, swashbuckling Spanish swordsman not because of any great acting talent but because, of all the actors who tested for the part, only he could actually fence -- not exactly a ringing endorsement. Williams, however, still appreciates his success. "I used to play anonymous men leaning in doorways with cigarettes dangling from their lips," he recalls. "There were times when I seriously doubted if I were cut out for this business." Williams later traded in his showy saber to play second banana to TV son Will Robinson (Billy Mumy) and his robot (Bob May) as astrophysicist John Robinson on Lost in Space.
