Since that time, I purchased two other RL-411's, both automatics, but sold them immediately for a small profit (around $200 total). I have also purchased four other Roadsters and either sold or traded them (except the latest, purchased 1/19/2001).
I have owned this roadster since 1992. While I had my roadster (a red 1967, sold in 1993) at my dad's house for a clutch replacement, we drove by another Roadster. It was complete, but the radiator was removed. We were told they had clean title (no salvage title) - they lied. Due to problems with my father, I didn't actually get the car for another six months. The engine was seized, but the car was clean otherwise, with minor body damage. Luckily, everything worked (except the clock). The speedometer has since been replaced, as has the clock, but it still doesn't work.
Here is what I've done so far:
Rebuilt Engine (by Roadster Restoration)
Rebuilt Head
New clutch
New and rebuilt brakes (rebuilt calipers, otherwise new)
New KYB GR-2 shocks
Replaced sagging leaf springs with newer used
New 175/65/14 Firestone tires on original rims with hubcaps
Replaced rear wheel bearing (quite an adventure)
Installed new 10+ year old Stebro exhaust system
Installed rebuilt SU carb bodies
Installed cheap digital stereo (convinced Kmart to sell it to me for $20.).
Millions of miscellaneous things...
Alas, I now plan to sell this car as I've purchased another car and want to "start over". It's not that this is a bad car or that I prefer the newer car, but rather that the newer car is just a better driver and I haven't screwed anything up on it yet. I've got the money to do a few things right and if I don't paint it right away it still looks OK. See '70 Roadster for more info about the new car.
