Shayell was born on 14 November 2352 on a starship to her mother, Lian Aroitte. Lian was the ship's civilian councilor and was trying to save a crewmember but in the process incurred injuries beyond medical help. Because of all these injuries the doctor, Dianne Hiland thought it best to induce the labor. Lian's life drained out of her when Shayell was born, and because of Dianne's deep friendship, she promised to take care of Lian's baby. The ship was destroyed, but all the surviving crewmembers escaped. That would be all Shayell's told throughout her lifetime. Even though the early stages of her life showed life threatening and extremely dangerous, Shayell was a bright and happy child. She loved her adopting mother Dianne very much and was very happy under her guiding hands. Dianne would always comment how Shayell looked so much like her mother, and sometimes tears could be found in Dianne's eyes. For the first six years of her life, Shayell would travel with her "mother" on various missions and find herself in things very exciting and interesting. She always would see different people going by their business and found them so interesting that she promised herself that she would try and learn all there is about them. Some of these people were nice and then there were the really awful ones that were in actual fact compassionate towards her, but she thought that was only because of her past and how her birth mother always helped them. Shayell also tried to find out more about her birth mother - but not only that, no one knew who her father was ! Some said that Lian was a very secretive lady and didn't want others to know about her past. This, was on its own a very peculiar character trait for a Betazoid. After turning six, Dianne sent Shayell to Betazed to learn more about her own culture. This was a very unknown place to her and she was rather frightened. Shayell was taught everything she needed to know about her own people. Here also she tried to find out about her mother, but it was forbidden to speak her name. Her own culture scared her later in her youth. She couldn't believe how a family can tell their daughters to marry someone they don't even know! Shayell was an excellent student throughout her studies and was well adjusted. Most of the teachers had a silent admiration for her strong will and patience among the other Betazed youth. At the young age of 11, she traveled to the planet earth. There she found someone that could quench her thirst for her ever-growing eagerness to learn more about different species. Her newly found tutor, Nevash Kildra, had a small group of students whom shared the same eagerness. Here she studied all there was to know about all the species Nevash knew which included the Bajoran, Cardassian, Andoran, and Vulcan cultures. Nevash was rather impressed with this youngster's eagerness and ability to take in all this knowledge at such a young age. Shayell found herself with a lifelong friend that would still help her in her future. In 2367, when she turned 15, she undertook further studies at the Betazed University to be trained in her psychic abilities, that she found absolutely overwhelming. As for the next two years, she actually found herself with friends (compared to her younger years.as an outcast ). In 2370, she was accepted in the Starfleet Academy, San Francisco, Earth. After she was accepted she found out that Nevash reported about her great abilities as a student and the skills she acquired through doing so. She was seen as a good asset to Starfleet. Studies she undertook was mainly on psychology (just like her birth mother) and Languages, but with minor battle and technical skills (again, for her thirst for knowledge). Her studies would take up almost six years to complete. During the last year of her studies her "mother" came to visit her, to give them a chance to see each other. To everyone's shock, the Dominion attacked earth. Dianne tried to help where she could with the wounded and tried to fend off the enemy, but lost her life trying. The rest is still to be written...............

Shayell is a very determined and eager person. She loves to study people and is always found staring at others going about their business. She would go out of her way to help those in need of support and comfort.
