Daemon Fredrick Liaz was born during a thunderstorm on 13 August 2351 into a military family. While his mother, Jennifer Laiz-Parker, worked for Starfleet on Earth, his father, Lt Cmdr Brendan Liaz, spent more time on missions than at home. This was the way Jennifer liked it. Although they had a large house the couple tended to get on each other's nerves even for the short time that they spent together while Brendan had shore leave.

When Daemon was 12 years old his parents officially split. His mother was posted to the Mars ship construction yards and he was placed in a Starfleet boarding school. This was more a military camp than a school and parades and warfare simulations went hand in hand with writing and arithmatic. Daemon's first year there involved quite a lot of punishment as he rebelled against what he considered a cold, dark world. He was a very intelligent young man and soon realised that he could gain his way by other means. Just as he was starting to gain the trust of his schoolmasters he graduated and went on to Starfleet Boarding College in San Francisco.

It was here that he began to excel. Although his bad record followed him, he soon worked around it and became a well respected student of all of the faculty. This advantage had its price. He was considered a freak and an outcast of most of the other students. He found that it wasn't a good idea to walk in any but the most public of corridors possible because he was a target of every bully in the school. This didn't phase him as his large size made it necessary for attackers to work in packs in order to avoid being beaten senseless. The small number of scuffles that he got into that were reported to the staff were generally considered to be mere self-defence on Daemon's part. Just as he planned it.

He spent a large part of his time alone during this period and could generally be found playing chess against his computer or in the simulation room brushing up on his tactical skills. He read every piece of literature possible and even managed to devise some movements of his own which won him not only competitions but also the admiration of his tutors. He also joined a small number of boys who were practicing an old cult called "Black Tri". Their symbol was a black triangle design displayed as a tatoo on the left shoulder. Soon he found that the group began to meet less frequently, but he still carried on his study in secret.

During his first year of Starfleet Academy his mother died. He didn't attend her funeral because it clashed with one of the more interesting parts of his course, but he did send a short note of his condolences to his aunts. In reply he got a letter from his mother's only brother. He was a member of the Starfleet based on Earth and seemed to be quite senior but was always very vague with information. Daemon soon was in regular contact with him and found that it was a good channel for gaining extra information above and beyond what he could find out through "official" channels.

In 2373 he had graduated with fantastic results from Starfleet Academy. He was just walking from his graduation ceremony ( he only stayed long enough to recieve his certificate ) and he was stopped by a man in a non-descript uniform. Daemon went with the man and was lead to a vehicle where he met his Uncle for the first time face to face. He was whisked away and began to work directly for his Uncle at Starfleet. Officially he was part of a tactical taskforce and worked part-time at the Academy as a tutor. While the second part seemed to be 100% true, the work at Starfleet did not fit the description that was on his official papers. He wasn't sure what was going on in the bigger picture but he did know that the public weren't being told all there was to know.

Suddenly, for no apparent reason, he was shipped to DS9 and all contact with his Uncle was broken. He was told that the task force had reported and was no longer needed and his Uncle was on other business. Daemon, however, has his suspicions.

The rest is still to be written...............
