Background:

T'Rii was born in 2341. Her father was a delegate-at-large in the Vulcan Ambassador's Diplomatic Corps. Much of T'Rii's childhood was unstable in that she was forced to relocate often. Her parents kept a close eye on her logic training since she was not able to be schooled on their Vulcan homeworld. Consequently, T'Rii was exposed to many different cultures and took special interest in Earth/human culture. Since her parents were busy much of the time, T'Rii acquired many human friends.

Her parents found her to be a rebellious youth (by their Vulcan standards) during her teenage years. T'Rii soon found herself rejecting much of Vulcan philosophy because she found emotion gave her experiences more depth. Upon reaching 21, she grew fond of an enlisted Starfleet man and they soon fell in love. Since she was not bonded to a mate as a child, when Pon farr occurred T'Rii choose her mate and performed the Koon-ut So'lik, a ritual marriage proposal. Her choice of an emotional path and a marriage to a human greatly
disappointed her family to the extent that they will not speak to her.

T'Rii and her husband decided not to have children since the vessel to which her husband was assigned did not have much room. Her husband was killed in an engineering-room related accident. She soon found herself alone with no husband, no family and no homeworld to return. Grieving for a time, she relied on some of her Vulcan mental stamina, decided to rebuild her life and show her parents (and her world, for that matter) that the (human) path can be successful too. She subsequently received a college education and later completed Starfleet Academy.

2377, T'Rii apply and was granted posting aboard the USS Highlander as a Science Officer.

The rest is still to be written...............

Personality Profile:

Due to her Vulcan background and her choice to abstain from totally embracing logic, she often finds herself torn between the two worlds. This is difficult, especially since her family has since chosen not to speak to her,and people she meets expect stereotypical Vulcanisms. She is unfortunately possessed of a perfectionism that keeps her from accepting promotion.

However, she does not feel she has done her best work, and thus does not feel deserving of promotion. She sees the lack of logic in such thoughts, but cannot bring herself to overcome them. Her personal feelings of inadequacy, and the efforts at perfection those feelings have spawned, make T'Rii an exceptionally knowledgeable woman. She is widely read and is a seemingly endless font of advice, with inexhaustible patience for her fellows. T'Rii never speaks unless asked, but is often seen smiling. She is too afraid of saying something silly, since people somehow expect her to say something "logical."

Only personal danger, to herself or to another, will inspire her to speak out of turn. She cares very deeply for her shipmates (which is an illogical emotion, but true nonetheless), and is ever-ready to help. Due to her Vulcan background, she maintains some of the quirks such as vegetarianism and pacifism (self-defense only).
