This spring Pinko and the Action Boys celebrate their 7th year as a band. A lot of our releases over the last few years (with the exception of Pinko Moxie Army) we're done on home-made tape demos that not many people ever got to hear. These ranged in quality from good to embarassingly piss poor, but regardless it's always fun to look back on past releases. So, to celebrate the fact we're still together and haven't moved on to greener pastures, we've put together the complete Action Boy discography, enjoy!
HASSLED BY THE MAN
Released: Spring-1996 Our first recording, made just a few weeks Line Up: Ian, Colin, Dary, after we started the band. None of us new how Jesus "Joe" Brown how to play instruments yet, and we hadn't Songs: Deliverance From Death yet decided who should do what, so this demo has ? everyone playing different instuments depending on Distinction the song. The rule was "if you wrote it, you sing it" Tribute to country music Interesting trivia: Although Joe is listed as a Wildman full time member, he only appears in 3 songs as The Paranoid Man trumpet player (no joke). Unlike the rest of us, he Kenneth Arnold actually had a life outside the band, and only Wrath Of Death showed up for 2 or 3 practices before quitting. Colin Nutter Butter was the one who came up the idea to start the band, Athiest Rap and Ian is the only member who has ever had to audition Flutter (Instrumental) (Colin's idear of a joke). This album is basically Stupid Drunk crap. MudroomMISSION FROM GOD
Released: Fall-1996 This is the first release to feature Bill as our Line Up: Ian, Colin, Dary guitarist. It's also the first recording that featured Bill real drums (replacing the old upside-down trashcan Songs: Intro we had been using). By now we had settled into Ian as Falling Down singer, Colin as bassist, Bill on guitar, and Dary on Song Of Elements drums, and were writing songs that were somewhatcatchy I've Been So Angry Lately (though still mostly crap). Around this time Ian came E-Z Does It! up with the name Pinko and the Action Boys, which Pizza after weeks of constant name changes actually stuck. Blizzard Of Ahhhs Good thing too, I doubt anyone would be interested in Illusion a band called The Graboids. It was also decided around Hardtime this time that we wouldn't rest until we were the White China fastest band in Bridgton. Later that day we succeded. Die Krach Banger Negitive AttitudeChristmas In Hell
Released: Christmas 1996 An enormous step backwards. Never before and never Line Up: Ian, Colin, Dary since has a larger collection of shit been put to Bill tape and called music. Most of these songs aren't Songs: Pillar Of Knowledge even vaguely catchy, and some actually hurt to Bandwagon listen to. Features an appearence by Josh who would Rancid Kid Song later join as a second singer a year or two later. Friend To this day we are tempted to destroy the last Fortune Cookie remaining copy which sits in a fire-proof box in our Headache basement. Here's a better review: Shit sandwich. Ah, after the horror of "christmas in hell" this release Released: Feb 1997 was a breath of fresh air. It's got a pretty unique sound to Line Up: Ian, Colin, Dary, it, but although the Action boys consider it "a classic", we Bill doubt very many others would bother sitting through it in Songs: 1-900-Boobies its entirety. Started the tradition of putting live tracks Soundtrack For A Riot at the end of every demo and includes a very early (and much Brians Ass Trip slower... almost... funky... ?) Another decent demo, more catchy songs and strange Released: Summer 1997 experimental stuff- classics like "They Suck, They're Stupid" Line Up: Ian, Colin, Dary and not so classic "I Am The Bee Keeper" or "Charlie". Bill Josh makes another vocal appearence in the excellent Songs: Secret Government "Pyronecrobeastaphelia". Shortly after its release the Pyronecrobeastaphelia band parted ways and formed two renegade bands- Question The End One and Dirty Old Men in a fued that lasted a couple months Janitor Song before our reunion at a talent show. Pinko and the Action Boys reunite! The peoples Released: Feb 1999 reaction- indifference! And rightfully so! After Line Up: Ian, Colin, Dary a couple of practices of old material we started in Bill on some new stuff that became the Back To School demo. Songs: Back To School This is the first demo that can actually be appreciated (Old School) by people outside of the band, and came out so good Pinko Hates Kids that most of these songs were eventually re-recorded (Or How I Learned To and pressed to vinyl as our Pinko Moxie Army 7". By Stop Worrying And Love now we were able to play as fast as we had been trying Tommy Hilfiger) for in past releases without falling apart and were Asbestos Felt able to put on a decent show (which by now we were playing quite a few). Josh Ragga-Dub-Dub would be added as a second singer a couple of months The Legend Of Dumpalumpa later after he moved back to Maine from Salem NH. A Walker Texas Ranger good summer and good times for all. Released: Summer 2000 The only release that's been put to vinyl and Line Up: Ian, Colin, Dary, widely distributed. Jokingly referred to as our Bill, Josh "Best Of" album, it's mostly redone versions of Songs: Back To School our past favorites with 2 new songs, Bridgton The Reanimator Killed My Funky Breakdown and Pinko Moxie Army. It's also Cat the first release to feature Josh as a full time Asbestos Felt second singer, and Bills last before he went off Worthless White Trash to college. This is also the only release that Scummy Moustach Gangsta doesn't feature a rap song... probably a good Kid thing. Mc3rd World Bridgton Funky Breakdown Pinko Hates Kids The Secret Government (Theme From) Pinko Moxie ArmyCOMPLETE FUCKING GARBAGE
Released: Spring 2002 A true B-Sides album, this is stuff you'll likely Line Up: Ian, Colin, Dary never hear from us again. Some embaressingly bad, Bill, Josh, Joe some surprisingly good, mostly all funny and worth at Songs: Chief Dumpalumpa least one listen. Stuff like our early tries at thrash Skinhead Magician and hardcore punk, or experimental crap that went Brian's Ass Trip nowhere. Hear Action Boys with a trumpet player! Before Rats we used drums! Before Ian's voice changed! Rap parodies Distinction and our take on metal, it's all here. All in all not Deliverance From Deth anything to get excited about, and will probably make us 100 Monkeys look stupid more than anything, but if you can't Fortune Cookie laugh at yourself first than you have no right to Pinko Hates Kids laugh at anyone else. Oh, and Powerslave is not Hey! What The Hell Are to be missed. You Guys Doing In Dallas? Following a summer straight out of an episode Released: Fall 2002 of "Behind The Music", we thankfully began work Line Up: Ian, Colin, Pat, on a new demo after beating the kids of Maine Dary repeatedly over the head with the same 11 song Songs: A Call For Action set for the last 3 years. This demo, much like Is That Your Hand? "Back To School", will be used as a rough draft I, Zombie for our upcoming full length release. We upgraded System our recording gear from the old 4 track analog Race Car Shirt recorders of past demos to a brand new 16 track Secret Government 2: digital recorder, and it shows. As over-produced The Spirit Of '69 as a Bon Jovi album, it features a lot of effects Spicey McMoxie Jig and special guests, but shitdog it was fun to Lynard Suspynard The make. Somewhat more political than past stuff, Lepraskin (Of Hardy, (having wrote the majority of it post Sept 11th) Wolfe, And Supsynard) with subtle and not so subtle jabs at America's I Wanna Be Mayor right wing revival. It also breaks the record Gimme Gimme Gimme End for the amount of inside jokes crammed into a Of The World 40 minute recording. This is the first recording Walker, Taliban Ranger That features Pat on guitar... and vocals Hardcorps "It's Thrash Master P!"
