"Summer Slow Jam's" was the first in the series of "Slow Jams" and has achieved cult status amongst the few that managed to get one. Released on cassette only and sold hand to hand it was basically more a personal project. In the old days of techno we where searching for tracks that played at a slow tempo. Unfortunately track where being made from 130 bpm upwards. We then discovered that if you take a track that plays at 130 bpm +, pressed at 45 rpm and play it at 33 rpm, pitched to +8, you get a nice mid tempo tune. Of course you'd try to avoid any vocal tracks. Dub tracks and instrumentals work best. Thus when we played these tracks in the townships the people called it "Slow Jams" and so we made some tracks, mixed them together and "boom", a new style is born. Check out the main track.
