ADAMS _ Mr. William (Bill) Adams passed away peacefully at the Scottish Extendicare Nursing Home on ugust 30, 1997 at the age of 96 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Peggy James of Calgary; nd son Bob and wife Gerry of Vancouver; grandchildren, Loree (Ron) Verquin, Lynne Sargent, Leslee (Ken) aldwell, Daren (Judy), Shelley and Colin Adams; great-grandchildren, Nicole and Natalie Verquin, Taryn and risten Sargent, Michael, Clarke, Taylor and Abby Caldwell, Jason and Shona Ness. Bill is predeceased by his ife Ruby, and his son-in-law Bill James in 1976. He was born in Scotland and came to Canada at the age of twenty-one years. Bill worked for Eaton's for over thirty years and was a longtime member of the Earl Grey Golf Club and the Glencoe Club. (9/1/97) BIERS _ Mary Biers of Calgary passed away peacefully at the Glenmore Park Auxiliary Hospital on August 30, 1997 at the age of 73 years. She is survived by her son Doug and his fiancee Norma Beech of Calgary. She is also survived by two brothers, Jacob and John Dedul of Drumheller; a sister Vera Grinevitch of Vernon, B.C.; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Bob in 1976. (9/1/97) BLOOM _ Melvin "Melsie" Bloom, 73 years young, beloved father/mother extraordinaire, passed away peacefully in his home on August 30, 1997. Surrounded by his loving children, Jacalyn, Moe, Lisa and Myron; his longtime loving friend Bonnie Shapiro and her children, Stephen, Jill and Garry; as well as his dogs, Sammy and Frankie. "Uncle Mel" to all of his nieces and nephews; nephew to aunts Sylvia, Lil and Audrey. His friendships were vast and had no boundaries. He was predeceased by his daughter Sherri Ruth, wife Eunice, and sister Renee Schwartz (Winnipeg). Mel was one of a kind and irreplaceable. Born in Winnipeg until he served as navigator in the RCAF, World War II in England. In 1947 Mel resided in Regina traveling throughout the prairies as a charming and successful furcoat salesman. In 1951 he fell in love and married Eunice Bergman and began his new life in Calgary. Mel will always be remembered as the Cloverleaf Cheese King. Many of his other successful business ventures included the "Isle of Capri" and the "Nighthawk" Night Clubs. He was also a brilliant stockbroker and entrepreneur which lead him to an active and fulfilling retirement. Mel was an avid horseman and race enthusiast; who's greatest thrills were "coming down the stretch" and "in the winner's circle". His passion was his garden and people came far and wide for "Mel's Dills". His greatest mission in life was his three kids and to him they meant everything. A beautiful man with a soul and spirit that touched all who knew and met him. Legendary in the way he lived his life, his smile and gentle touch leave footprints in our hearts; so loved and treasured for all thyme. (9/1/97) BRASH _ After a long illness, James John Walker Brash (Jim), passed away peacefully at the Rockyview Hospital on August 28, 1997. He was born in Perth, Scotland in 1934. He is survived by his loving wife Sheila; his sons, Rick and Stephen of Calgary; and his daughter Lori and his son-in-law Rudi of Concord, California; as well as his grandchildren, Logan and Riley of Calgary, and Ethan of California. He totally adored his three grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Iain and his sister-in-law Helen, and their children, Calum and Jill who reside in Perth, Scotland; and other caring relatives. Jim worked with A.G.T. for twenty-five years where he gained the respect of all those he worked with. All who knew and loved Jim will dearly miss him. Thanks to Drs. Atnikov and Love and the nursing staff at Rockyview Unit 73 for their compassion and kindness through this difficult period. (9/1/97) CLARKE _ Randy died suddenly on August 28, 1997 at the age of 39. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Calf Robe of Calgary; one son Clinton Bull Bear of Shouldice; his parents, Ted and June of Calgary; his sisters, Mary Anne (Olivier) of Calgary, Chris (Richard) of Whitehorse; and his brother Tom (Michelle). Also left to mourn his passing are his grandfather Ed Clarke of Medicine Hat; and various nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. Beloved mother of a daughter Leone Jardine of Cranbrook; four grandsons, Ross and Kyle of Calgary, Scott and Paul of Cranbrook; sisters-in-law, Zella Hinds of Airdrie, Laura Gorrell, Dorothy Strang and Margaret Daub, all of Calgary, Alice Daub of Lethbridge, Anna Maisey, Lucy Malmberg, Eileen (Clarence) Green, all of High River; numerous nieces and nephews. Helen was predeceased by her husband Irvine Daub, April 30, 1991, and her parents, Thomas and Katherine. (9/1/97) JOHNSTON _ Scott, loving husband of Linda and exceptional father of Chris and Josh (Misty Nielsen), and a man's (Scott's) best friend, Binzer, passed away peacefully in Trochu, August 27, 1997 at 43 years of age. Also surviving are his parents, Ruby and George Johnston; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Aggi and Ole Kjelstad; and his sisters and brothers, Sharon, Penny, Terry, Jim, Gord, Lance, Barry, Susie and their families. Scott's niece Jennifer and his brother-in-law George predeceased him. Born in Calgary on May 8, 1954, Scotty grew up in Calgary and graduated from James Fowler High School. His love of cars, especially restoring hot rods led him to open Kelowna Kustoms in 1978. Scott came back to Calgary where he first became involved in funeral service prior to he and Linda starting Prairie Winds Funeral Home serving Trochu and area. He will be sorely missed and loved by all and will be remembered for his keen wit and humour. A Private Funeral Service conducted by Rev. She and her husband Alfred were both involved in the field of catering and commercial cooking. Helen was noted for her love of cooking, entertaining, gardening and socializing. She is predeceased by her husband, her brother Nick Eroshinsky, and her sister Anne Montgomery of Maple Ridge, B.C. Her many nieces and nephews will mourn her passing. Predeceased by her husband Robert (Bob) Scott in 1975. She is also predeceased by her parents, James and Agnes McCall, her brother Capt. Fred McCall R.C.A.F., sister Christine Thompson of Calgary, son-in-law Doug Reidie, daughter-in-law Mollie Scott and Margo Scott. Marjorie is survived by her loving family, daughter Karen Reidie-Thorstad and husband Ross Thorstad; grandsons, Robert S. (Tara) Minnick, Michael Reidie; and stepgrandson Brandon Thorstad; granddaughter Christine (Lance) Coad; granddaughters, Courtenay and Chelsea, and grandson Carter. He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends.
