(9/21/97) BEGLAU _ Mr. Eduard (Ed) Beglau of Calgary, went to be with the Lord on September 19, 1997 at the age of 90 years, surrounded by his family at the Glenmore Park Auxiliary Hospital. Mr. Beglau was born November 23, 1906. He moved to Canada from Germany in 1953 with his family to Kipp, Alberta. He spent most of his life pursuing his career in carpentry and at the age of seventy-five he built his dream home in Kelowna. In 1991 he returned to Calgary. Ed is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Waldemar of Calgary, Adolf and Janet of Calgary, Deval Tanner and Alannah Sinclaire of Okotoks; three daughters and sons-in-law, Lydia and Alfons Stobert of Kelowna, Emma and Karl Hildebrandt of Edmonton and Wilma and Albert Regner of Camrose; fourteen grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. He is also survived by siblings in Germany and numerous other relatives. He was predeceased by his wife Anna and two daughters, Hilda and Herta. Funeral Services will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church (204 - 6A Street N.E.) on Friday, September 26, 1997 at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Markus Wilhelm officiating. (9/21/97) BENSTEAD _ Ron died at Agape Manor surrounded by family and friends after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Ron was born in Calgary in 1938. After graduating from Crescent Heights High School he studied at the Alberta College of Art. He followed his friend and mentor, Stan Parrot, to Bragg Creek. It was there that he was introduced to ceramics by Ed Drahanchuk. Ron then embarked on a successful thirty year career as a potter, working from his studio in Bragg Creek and then Calgary. His work is represented in numerous private and public collections both nationally and internationally. Ron is survived by his son Dale and his mother Sharee of Vancouver; his son Ryan and his mother Jerelyn, and grandson Christopher of Calgary; his uncle Horace (Edna) Benstead; many cousins and countless friends. He was predeceased by his father Harry in 1978, and his mother Edna in 1996. We will all miss you dearly. Donations gratefully appreciated in lieu of flowers, to Agape Manor Hospice. She is the beloved mother of Mrs. Hazel Johnson and Leah (Art) Newman of Stavely. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Pamela Johnson, Lethbridge, Cotton and his wife Patti Johnson, and Linden Johnson; three great-grandchildren, Kyle, Alisa and Kayla Johnson, Stavely; a sister Mrs. Margaret (Bob) Hill, Vulcan; dear nephew Terry and wife Jackie Cochlan, their family, Marcy (Adrian), Nancy (Mike) and Moody; numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband on September 30, 1986, five brothers, one sister and a son-in-law Roy Johnson. He is the loving son of Nettie Kernaghan of Strathmore, AB; and loving brother of Gerald (Marion) Kernaghan of Ladysmith, B.C., sister Joan Roberts of Strathmore, AB, sister Donna (Dick) Coldwell of Strathmore, AB, sister Audrey (Archie) Andreows of Nanaimo, B.C., sister Jackie (Jim) Harwood of Strathmore, AB, sister Norma Kernaghan of Carseland, AB, sister Sharon (Garry) Olsen of Crofton, B.C., and sister Linda Kernaghan of Calgary, AB. Bob is also survived by thirty-three nieces and nephews as well as fifty great-nieces and nephews. Bob was predeceased by his father David Kernaghan in 1972 and his brother Melvin Kernaghan in 1970. Bob retired from the Canadian Western Natural Gas Co. in 1989, after thirty-eight years of continuous service. He enjoyed all sports and was an avid fan of the Calgary Flames and the Stampeders. Bob was active in curling, golfing, bowling, darts and he loved dancing and playing the piano. He was a life member of The Good Samaritan Club and the Calgary Golf Club. Bob also belonged to the Legion and Army & Navy, O.B. Club & I.O.O.F. Lodge. He will be sadly missed by his family, relatives and friends. (9/21/97) McCOY _ Carl Joseph McCoy, beloved husband of Barb McCoy of Calgary, passed away peacefully at his home amongst his family, after a short battle with cancer on Thursday, September 18, 1997 at the age of 56 years. Carl was born April 26, 1941 in Deloro, Ontario. He lived in Marmora, Ontario until 1978 when he moved his family to Fort McMurray, Alberta. Carl retired from Syncrude Canada Ltd. in April 1996, moving to Calgary in November 1996. He will be sadly missed and remembered most for his love of family, great sense of humor and love of sports. They moved to Empress in 1930, Medicine Hat in 1961 and then to Calgary in 1972. Ethel was predeceased by her husband in 1967 and son Bob in 1980, as well as four brothers and three sisters. She is survived by Neil (Grete) McDowell, Joan (Ted) Washbrook, Jim (Kathy) McDowell, Garth (Anne) McDowell; seventeen grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. (9/21/97) PARSONS _ Ronald Albert Parsons passed away peacefully at the Peter Lougheed Hospital on Friday, September 19, 1997 after a short illness. He was 84 years old. Ron grew up in Rocky Mountain House and graduated as a civil engineer in 1937 from the U. of A. Shortly after, he moved to Quebec where he built a very satisfying career in hydro-electric dam construction with Shawinigan Engineering. After thirty years, his job brought him back to his native province where he pursued an active retirement filled with family, friends, volunteer work and travel adventures. His involvement with St. Stephen's included warden and vestry work. Ron had many loves, travel, his 1972 Mercedes, curling, hiking, sweet peas, people, a spirited discussion! He will be especially remembered by his family and those closest to him for his perseverance in difficult circumstances, the sparkle in his eye, Christmas pudding and home-made marmalade. He remains an inspiration to those who knew him. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Statia (Leon) Demers, Gordon (Jen) Parsons, Budd (Donna) Parsons, and Judith (Raolph) Willsey. He also leaves seven grandchildren, brother Lawrence and many friends. Ron was predeceased by his wife, Kit. He is survived by his three children, Nolan (Fleurette) of Dawson Creek, Ross (Gail) of Hinton and Karen of Edmonton; also five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Wilfred also leaves to mourn, three sisters, Gwen (Don) Campbell, Ruth (Harold) Adamson and Hellen Carter; numerous relatives and friends. Wilfred was predeceased by his mother and father, brother Irving, also first wife Francis. (9/20/97) TEMPLE _ Violet Temple (nee Russell), beloved wife of Peter Temple of Olds, passed away peacefully, after a courageous battle with cancer, at the Olds General Hospital on Thursday, September 18, 1997 at the age of 81. Vi left a legacy of love, compassion, friends and family. She personified family values in the very best sense, always gathering her friends and family around her. She was a pillar of strength for others to lean on. Besides her accomplishments as a farmer and business woman, Vi had many other loves including cooking, gardening, and singing in the Evergreens choir. She remains an inspiration to all who knew her. Besides her loving husband Pete, Vi is survived by her son Burke (Maureen) Darling of Calgary; her daughter Shirley Munro of Kamloops; her brothers, Ross Russell of Sundre, Bruce (Arlene) McGuire of Washington, Glen (Patti) McGuire of Oregon; her sister Willetta (Vern) King of Oregon; her son-in-law Ray (Charlotte) Reinbold of Kamloops; her eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, as well as her many nieces, nephews and friends.
