BAGGETT _ Shirley Dianne. Shirley was born in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan on July 24, 1948. Shirley received
her schooling in Redcliff, Alberta. Shirley worked in various places and moved to Westlock, Alberta in 1984. She
worked at Co-op Mall and when it closed she started at the Saan Store in Westlock on May 8, 1989. There she
became store manager and worked until June 25, 1997 when she took a medical leave because of illness. Shirley
Hirsch met Ken Baggett in February of 1995 and became Mrs. Ken Baggett on May 17, 1997. Shirley decided to
have a bone marrow transplant at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre in Calgary and after a very grave and hard fight
with her illness she passed away on September 12, 1997. Her remains were laid to rest at St. Mark's Cemetery at
Linaria, Alberta on September 18, 1997 with Reverend James D. Reeb officiating. Westlock Funeral Home in care
of arrangements. Shirley leaves to mourn her loss, her loving and devoted husband Ken Baggett of Westlock;
her children, Lorna Hirsch and granddaughter Veronica Scheuneman, and grandson Cole Scheuneman of

BIJOU _ Eva Mae, beloved wife of the late Clifford Gordon Bijou of Calgary, passed away at Bow View Manor on
September 22, 1997 at the age of 77 years. Eva is survived by her son Jim (Bonnie) Bijou of Edmonton; her
daughter Barbara (Victor) Luhowy of Calgary; grandchildren, Chris Luhowy, Debbie Luhowy, Doug Bijou, Dale
Bijou and Jennifer Bijou; as well as her great-granddaughter Darian Luhowy. She is also survived by her
brothers, Frank (Mary) Dunkin and Jack (Gloria) Dunkin; and her sister Marie Davis. Eva was born near Elk Point,
AB. After graduating from high school, she attended Alberta College in Edmonton, graduating in 1939. It was
during this time that she met her husband and best friend, Clifford. Although she enjoyed her career, family and
friends were her true joy. Eva had a genuine interest in and love of people. She was active in the Kinettes and
Kiwanis Clubs, and in the United Church. She loved music; playing the clarinet in the Edmonton Girls Band and
singing in church choirs. Eva and Cliff danced with the Revellers Square Dance Club; one of many highlights
being their participation in the Opening Ceremonies of the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics. Eva will be fondly
remembered by all those whose lives she touched. Those wishing to pay their respect may do so at MOUNTAIN

BOESCH _ Mr. Merle Lawrence Boesch, beloved husband of Mrs. Isobel Boesch of Calgary, passed away at the
Cross Bow Auxiliary Hospital on September 24, 1997 at the age of 76 years. Merle and Isobel were married in
1941, after which Merle served in the Air Force until 1945. The family farmed in Riceton, Saskatchewan until 1974
when Merle's health forced him to retire. He and Isobel then moved to Calgary in 1987 to be closer to their
daughters. Merle was a founding member of the Western Canada Farm Progress Show in Regina, Saskatchewan,
and was a life member of the Kiwanis. Besides his loving wife, Merle is survived by two daughters and
sons-in-law, Linda Jaster and Don Craig, and Robin and Ross Waldo, all of Calgary; as well as two
granddaughters, Tara and Lloyd Kortbeek, and Tammy Berglund-Jaster. He was predeceased by his father in

FERNER _ Mr. Paul Adam Ferner, loving and beloved husband, father and grandfather, died suddenly on
September 24, 1997 at the age of 73 years. Born on a farm near Sedley, Saskatchewan, Paul loved the land and
enjoyed farming after retiring from the practice of law. He was an avid fisherman, gardener and chess player. He

LITTLE _ Mrs. Yvonne (Bonne) Little (nee Cairns) passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on
September 24, 1997 at the age of 60 years, after enduring a courageous battle with cancer. Each and every day
Yvonne lived life to the fullest. She was born in Rimbey, Alberta and spent most of her life in Sylvan Lake and
Calgary. Her years of service as a school bus driver showed her dedication and love for children. She will be
deeply missed by her loving husband Max; and her five children, and seven grandchildren, Darcy (Cheryl), Kyle

McPHEDRAN _ Effie, passed away September 24, 1997 at the Southwood Nursing Home at the age of 101. Effie
is survived by her three sons, Jim (Milly), Stan (Trudy), and Glen (Heather); six grandchildren and eleven
great-grandchildren. Born in Northampton, England, Effie came to Calgary in 1919. She was predeceased by her

PARKER _ Hugh C. Parker passed away at his residence on Tuesday, September 23, 1997. Hugh was born on
January 9, 1937 in Drumheller, Alberta. He lived and worked in many communities throughout Alberta and British
Columbia. During his retirement years in Invermere, B.C., he was actively involved in community sports and
social events. His past ten months at Carroll Place have been especially enjoyable as his many new friends
welcomed and included him in their activities and lives. Hugh will be fondly remembered by his twin brother Stan
and Lorraine of Calgary; his sister Lois and Bill Petty of Ashcroft, B.C.; his brother Norris of Vancouver, B.C.;

PERSSON _ Mr. Nils "Emil" Persson of Calgary, passed away at his residence on September 23, 1997 of
congestive heart failure, at the age of 93 years. Emil was born in Loshults Parish (Skane), Sweden and after
serving in the Swedish Army immigrated to Canada in 1928. He worked for the Northern Alberta Railway for forty
years until 1968. After retirement, he served as Mayor and Municipal Administrator of the Village of Rycroft,
Alberta. For the past twenty-one years, Emil lived with his daughter Diane and family in Edmonton, Houston,
Tulsa and Calgary. Grandchildren Nils and Britta loved growing up with their Morfar (Grandfather), who also
made regular trips back to his family in Sweden. Emil is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Diane Iona
Persson and Daniel Johnson of Calgary; as well as by his two beloved grandchildren, Nils and Britta. He is also
survived by the mother of his daughter Eunice Dika of Calgary; two brothers, Tage and Edvin; and three sisters,
Inga, Boyan and Esther. Emil was predeceased by three brothers, Henning, Gunnar and Erik, and a sister Ida.

POTTER _ Catherine Monica (Monie) Potter passed away peacefully on the last day of summer, Sunday,
September 21, 1997 at the Bow Crest Nursing Home, at the age of 85 years. A retired Federal Civil Service
employee, Monie was our only Grandparent and will be sadly missed by her loving family, Joan O'Reilly of
Calgary, Robert (Bob), Brenda and Chase Gibson O'Reilly of Vancouver, Katrina O'Reilly and Jon Webb of
Vancouver, Dan and Theresa Gibson of Ottawa, Erin (Gibson), Steve, Cameron and Molly McFarlane of Renfrew,
Ontario; and her two favorite cousins, Ethel Gibbons and Edith Fulton of Ottawa. Monie was predeceased by her
parents, William H. and Catherine Annabelle (Neil) Potter, her brother Clifford, her sisters, Phyllis Dorning and
Vivian O'Reilly Perry, and her beloved little nephew Andrew Gibson. Following a private Cremation in Calgary,
family members will escort Monie home to Ottawa where her final resting place will be by Andrew's side in

PRICE _ Regeana (Rae) Sarah Price (nee Steffler), passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, at the
Foothills Hospital on September 24, 1997 at the age of 74, following a brief illness. Rae is survived by her best
friend and loving husband of fifty years, I.C.B. (Bert) Price; and their eight children, Patricia (Jeff) Weismiller,
Brendon and Rhiannon; Joe (Marie) Price, Jennifer and Melanie; Janice (Walter) Staniec, Heather, Kimberly,
Jillian and Jonathan; Diane (Walter) Papuzynski, Kevin and Nicholas; Kenneth (Carolyn) Price, Amy, Rebecca
and David; Laura (Sonny) Wilson, Mark and Jessica; Teresa (Ben) Quon; and Jim Price. Rae is also survived by
her sisters and brothers, Barbara (Otto) Goedicke, Mary (Earl, deceased) Braun, Ben Steffler, Gerald Steffler and
Lucille (Walter) Wilson; and her sister-in-law Pearl Steffler. She was predeceased by her parents, her brother
Louis, and nephew Martin Steffler. She was born on the family farm in Cremona, Alberta on June 23, 1923. In
addition to raising eight children, she worked in the town office in Uranium City until 1985. She and Bert then
moved to Carstairs, Alberta, where she was active as secretary at both the St. Agnes Church and the Half
Century Club. Her interests included knitting, needlework and travelling with her husband. Her generosity,
kindness and sense of humour will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all who knew her. Prayers will be
held at St. Agnes Church, Carstairs on Friday, September 26, at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St.

SHAMAN _ (SCHULMANN). Horst, passed away on September 21, 1997 after a lengthy battle with diabetes at
60 years of age. Horst owned and operated Airport Paint & Body for twenty-four years. He supported many
Minor Hockey teams and other minor sports teams in Calgary and was generous in his support of many others

STANWAY _ Harry E. Stanway passed away in Kelowna, B.C. on Wednesday, September 24, 1997 at the age of
