ARMSTRONG _ Mrs. Ruby Francis (nee Scott), passed away peacefully at the Rockyview General Hospital on February 10, 1998 at the age of 78 years, in the presence of her family. She was born in Killarney, MB on November 11, 1919, and was predeceased by her husband Leslie Stewart Armstrong in 1996. She will be lovingly remembered by her six daughters and two sons, Bonnie Armstrong of Victoria, BC, Marjorie (John) Simpson, June (Bob) Morgan, Betty (Tom) Pateman, Myrna (Sid) Dalgarno, Sandra (Don) Zawasky, Reg (Karen) Armstrong, Greg (Cathy) Armstrong; and by twenty-three grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. BAYFORD _ Mr. Harold Allan Bayford, beloved husband of Mrs. Jane Bayford (nee Bullied) of Irricana, Alberta, left us suddenly and tragically on February 11, 1998 at the age of 44 years. Harold was born on March 26, 1953 in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta. He grew up and lived all his life in Alberta. Harold had worked during the past twenty-three years for Canada Malting. He enjoyed fishing and golfing. Harold was a very kind, caring and thoughtful person and will be missed by many. Besides his loving wife, Harold is survived by two sons, Christopher J.A. Bayford, Harold William Bayford; a daughter Victory May Bayford; and a grandson Steven Lawrence Bayford. He is also survived by his mother Olive Bayford; father James and his wife Olie Bayford; six brothers and five sisters-in-law; two sisters and brothers-in-law; four nieces and eleven nephews; as well as other relatives and many friends. COLBERT _ Richelle Violet Colbert, of Calgary, passed away February 12, 1998 at the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton at the age of 13 years. ELLIS _ Hughena (Ena), (nee MacKay), beloved wife of Mr. Ken Ellis of Calgary, passed away at the Peter Lougheed Hospital on February 12, 1998, after pneumonia. Ena was born in Nigg, Scotland and served in the RAF from 1941 to 1945, where she met her first husband Warrant Officer Jimmy Bunn. After his untimely death in 1945, she and her young son Jim were invited to Canada by Jimmy's parents, Donald and Mable Bunn. Ena met Ken Ellis in 1949 and they married and moved to Calgary where they have resided since. Ena and Ken spent many winters with good friends in Arizona and travelled to Hawaii, Mexico and home to Great Britain. Besides her loving husband, Hughena is also survived by her children, Jim (Gail), Richard and Sheila (Jim); grandchildren, Cory and Kelley; and a great-grandson Justus. She is also survived by two sisters, Isabella and Margaret; two brothers, Matt and Donnie. We will miss her enormously. HALL _ Helen Constance Hall, beloved mother of Albert S. Hall (Nanton) and Barbara A. Leggett (Calgary), passed away peacefully in Central Park Lodge Nursing Home (Calgary), February 10, 1998 at the age of 77 years. She will be lovingly remembered by son-in-law Barry Leggett (Calgary); daughter-in-law Marlene (Nanton); seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. HARRIS _ Mr. Orrie Harris, beloved husband of Mrs. Roberta (Robin) Harris of Calgary, passed away suddenly on February 11, 1998 at the age of 78. Born in Calgary, Orrie resided here most of his life except when he attended the University of Alberta in Edmonton and served during World War II. In 1953, he married Robin Nixon and they moved to their present home in Tuxedo Park. Orrie was always very active in the Tuxedo Park community association. He was recently acknowledged for practicing law for fifty years and for many years he had an office on Saturdays in Black Diamond. Orrie enjoyed many activities which included bike riding, skating, music, dancing, whistling and carpentry. He will be dearly missed by his family and close friends. "He loved and was loved." He is survived by a son Orrie of Toronto; two daughters and sons-in-law, Robin and Gordon Davis of Calgary, and Vicky and Jon Dean of Butte, Montana; seven grandchildren, Sara, April, Jackie, Phil, Robbie, Allie and Clay. HOLLIDAY _ Donalda Rebecca (nee McLennan), affectionately known by family and friends as "Donny", passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at the Foothills Hospital on February 12, 1998. Born in Kisby, Saskatchewan on March 10, 1922, but has resided in Calgary since she was an infant. Prior to raising her family she was employed at a dude ranch in the Kananaskis. During World War II, she worked at the Number 11 Equipment Depot and lastly enjoyed her position as bookkeeper at the United News. Survived by her daughters, Margaret (Donald) Demers, Mary and Paddy; two grandsons, Matthew Bentley (Dawn Evans) and Connor Demers; sisters, Annie (Leon) McLauchlin, Florence (Harvey) Colwill; brother Rod (Olive) McLennan; and sister-in-law Anne Muir; and several nieces and nephews. Donny was predeceased by her husband of thirty-four years, Les, brother George Muir and sister Isabelle. Showing both grace and dignity, Donny fought a courageous battle with lung cancer, her concern not with herself but with her family. Donny was loving, generous, an entertaining storyteller and an avid sports fan. JEFFERY _ Mr. John Wellington Jeffery of Calgary, passed away at the Bethany Care Centre on February 12, 1998 at the age of 90 years. Jack was born on August 28, 1907 in England and came to Canada in 1912. He married Agnes in 1931. Jack worked for McGavins Bakery for forty-two years as a salesman. Jack enjoyed life and loved people. Jack is survived by his son Al and his fiancee Anne Bell of Calgary; Anne's children, Harry and Kristal whom he considered his grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Bernard and Kay of Calgary; and a sister Gertrude of Saskatoon; and a very special friend Jean. He was predeceased by his wife Agnes in 1989. LeBLANC _ Anna Marie LeBlanc, beloved wife of Mike LeBlanc and loving mother of Christopher and Mark, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on February 12, 1998, after a courageous battle with breast cancer at the age of 36 years. Anna had an illustrious career as a Radio Journalist in Saskatchewan and Alberta and with Canadian Press. Anna's career highlights included covering the 1988 Winter Olympics here in Calgary, the 1990 World Figure Skating Championship in Budapest, as well as the 1986 Stanley Cup Finals. Anna is also survived by her mother Theresa; sister Shelagh; brothers, Pat, Paul, Kent and all their families. Anna was predeceased by her father Jim Geddes in 1978. LOVO _ Rose Mae Lovo, beloved wife of Kenneth Lovo of Calgary, passed away at the Sarcee Auxiliary Hospital on February 11, 1998 at the age of 77 years, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's. Besides her loving husband of fifty-six precious years, Rose is survived by her two sons and daughter, Russ of Lafleche, Saskatchewan, Glen and Vivian of Calgary. MAGNUSSEN _ Gordon L. Magnussen, beloved husband of Mrs. Gwen Magnussen of Calgary, passed away at home on February 8, 1998, after a lengthy illness, at the age of 72 years. Gordon was born on December 27, 1925 in Lethbridge, Alberta. He enjoyed a long career in Real Estate and building development with Genstar Properties Ltd., retiring as president in 1985. Gordon was past president of The Canadian Home Manufacturers Association. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing throughout his lifetime. Besides his loving wife, Gordon is also survived by his children and grandchildren, Sharron and Larry Harriman (Cory) of Riondel, B.C., Randy and Leigh (Paige and Joshua) of Calgary, Debbie and Dale McCullough (Jenna) of Sidney, B.C., Jay and Vicki (Kai, Savannah, Jacey) of Okotoks, and Ryan and Charlene (Darcy and Kari) of Calgary. MICHALUK _ Murray, passed away into the presence of Jesus on Saturday, February 14, 1998 at the age of 77 years. Murray passed away at the Kelowna General Hospital in Kelowna, B.C. He is survived by his loving wife of forty-six years, Irene (nee Michasiw); his son Tom and daughter-in-law Cathy; his daughter Patti and son-in-law Peter Cook; his daughter Mary; his three grandchildren, Ciara, Kyle and Michael; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his son Michael (1981), his parents, Dora and William, two brothers and three sisters. Murray was an active member of Immaculate Conception Parish and the Knights of Columbus. NELSON _ Lloyd Oscar, born June 6, 1917 in Queenstown, AB, passed away on February 14, 1998 at the age of 80 years following a courageous battle against cancer. Lloyd is survived by his loving wife of forty-eight years, Mildred; his six children, Doug (Patti), Ted (Alice), Ralph (Jacqueline), Deb (Bob) Payne, Pat (Ben) Graves, Wendy (Ray) Wegener; seventeen grandchildren; one great-grandchild; along with his brother Melvin (Laura); his sisters, Clara Cote and Lilly (Sam) Polo; sister-in-law Clara Nelson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. SCHLACK _ Judith (Judy) Farrier Schlack (nee Blake), beloved companion of Karl Barfrieder of Calgary, passed away suddenly at the Foothills Hospital on Friday, February 13, 1998, at the age of 61 years. Judy was born on September 13, 1936 in Barrie, Ontario. She has resided in Calgary since 1989. Judy loved people which was shown through her numerous hours of volunteer work with various groups. She will be missed by many. Besides her loving companion, Judy is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Leslie Schlack and Darin Abbey of Gabriola Island, BC; two sons and daughters-in-law, Owen and Sandy Schlack, and Ian and Cholena Schlack, both of the Peace River Country, AB; and their father Harold Schlack of Calgary; as well as seven grandchildren, Tao, Quinn, Kendra, Thomas, Adam, Haele and Chaz. She is also survived by her mother Margaret Blake; and three sisters, Dawn, Heather, and Susan. Judy was predeceased by her father Rev. Harold Blake. ST. JEAN _ Mr. Raymond St. Jean, of Okotoks, formerly of Coronach, SK, passed away at the High River Hospital on February 13, 1998 at the age of 85 years. Ray is survived by his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Rita; his children, sons, Garry (Sandy) and Kelly (Annie), all of Okotoks; daughters, Jac (Ernie) Harapiak of Eastend, SK, and Theresa (Gerry) Karapita of Brooks; grandchildren, Brenda and Dale St. Jean, Stephen (Nicola) and Marissa Harapiak, Renee and Tyrone Karapita, and Kelly (Suzanne) St. Jean; great-grandchildren, Kayla and Bradley; sisters, Cecile DeGrand of Regina, Dora (Ernie) Cronan and Dorinda Monette, all of Chilliwack, BC, and Irene Franks of Moose Jaw; brother Stanley (Stella) of Aldergrove; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In 1995 they moved to Alberta, first to Brooks then finally to Okotoks. Ray's pleasures in life were simple. His joys were animals, his fishing experiences, his work and family and friends. STEPHENSON _ It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden death of our beloved mother and grandmother, Margaret (Peg) Stephenson, who passed away at the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton on Wednesday, February 11, 1998. TEMPLE _ George Allan Temple of Calgary passed away peacefully after a brief illness on February 10, 1998 at the age of 66 years. George will be greatly missed by his wife and best friend of twenty years, Jacqueline. George is survived by his mother Kay Landeen and her husband Douglas; brother Ray and his wife Marian; son Chris; daughters, Sherry Kelly, Susan (Mike) Hennessy, and Sandra Picray; grandchildren, Joshua, Austyn, Gena, Tiffany, Kerri and Klayton; Jacquie's parents, brother and sister; nieces and nephews, Katie (Brian) Johnson, Linda Temple, Ken (Teresa) Temple, Jeff Boswell and Allison (Don) Wright; as well as many close friends. George was predeceased by his father Mervin. George was born September 27, 1931 in Regina, Saskatchewan and moved to Calgary in 1945. He attended Connaught School and Western Canada High School. George studied at Fullerton Junior College in Fullerton, California. After returning to Calgary, George was employed in the oil and gas industry and retired in 1989 after twenty-one years of service with AMOCO Canada. George had a zest for life and his infectious fun-loving spirit affected all who knew him. His desire to always be helpful led him to be actively involved with the CalAlta Figure Skating Club in the late 1960's and early 1970's. George held several Chairman positions in the Club and helped to coordinate Alberta Sectional Competitions, Skate Canada, and the World Figure Skating Championships. George's passion in life was hockey. He established the Calgary 55+ Hockey League in 1989 for retired seniors. He acted as Commissioner of the League and enjoyed playing as often as he could, limited only by the availability of "ice time". George's summer passion was golf. He enjoyed playing at the Wintergreen Golf Club with his wife Jacquie and with the Wintergreen "Old Boys". WALSH _ Teresa a.k.a. "T", passed away suddenly in the comfort of her home on February 7, 1998 at the age of 41 years. "T" will be lovingly remembered by her two sisters in England, Pearl and Lorraine; close friends; and the dozens of children and families for whom she devoted her life as a remarkable nanny. Teresa was born and raised in Farnborough, England, moving to Canada in 1975.
