Desk Chess
.
Over in Patrol North,
just the other night,
Several of the NCO's,
fought a valiant fight.
The chess game had been
started, earlier that day,
When Corporal Shaw,
made his move, in a novel way.
.
This chess game was
unusual, in the pieces that they used,
Departmental furniture,
and whatnot was abused.
Terry made the first
move, Team Three to Queen's Pawn Four,
Team Four was then the
counter, over by the door.
.
The next move was Ken
Nixon's, with help from Ronnie Joyce,
They worked out quite
a strategy, amidst the rising noise.
Team Four would be attacking,
surrounding Team Three's king,
Going for the checkmate,
and the victory it would bring.
.
But Terry planned his
moves well, anticipating all,
For Ken to score a victory,
more men would have to fall.
Instead he set defenses,
prevention was his aim,
Avoid the fatal checkmate,
that would surely end this game.
.
But this game was very
different, another joined the throng,
Mike Barnard on night
shift, thought their moves were wrong.
He wrote then for a
ruling, from Inspector Higgins, who,
Must decide, the outcome,
of the match between these two.
.
But, alas it was not
meant to be, a stalemate would arise,
The solution as it stands
right now, will open up your eyes.
For Mike put things
in order, and declared the match was done,
All pieces where they
used to be, with an end to all the fun.
.
We now await the next
match, the winner will take all,
To be the first World
Champion, of Desk Chess in the fall.
Maybe make it challenging,
and expand on all the fun,
And issue now a challenge
to both Teams Two and One.
