Vancouver Police Members engaged in fund raising for New York City disaster
relief. Photo taken and supplied by my good friend Rick Streifel
Sgt Steve Gibson and Cst
Todd Catchpole came up with the idea of raising funds for the families of
New York City Police Officers killed in the Sepember 11, 2001 World Trade
Center disaster. A commemorative decal was commissioned and donated
by Associated Labels (1-800-661-4764). Police members in Vancouver
have donated their time to sell the decals (by donation only) and to date
have raised in excess of $125,000 which will be sent to New York. One
man emptied his pockets for a decal and appologized that he had nothing
more at this time (his donation was $248). I also purchased a decal
specifically to scan and put on my page as a dedication not only to brothers-in-arms
lost, but to the tremendous effort of my colleagues in their endevour. Sgt
Gibson and Cst Cathpole also operate a website dedicated to police memorial
at ( www.policememorial.ca
