Unity
I dreamt I stood in a studio
And watched two sculptors there.
The clay they used was a young child's mind
And they fashioned it with care.
One was a teacher- the tools he used
were books, music, and art.
The other a parent, working with a guiding hand
And a gentle loving heart.
Day after day, the teacher toiled with touch
That was deft and sure;
While the parent labored by his side
And polished and smoothed it o'er.
And when at last their task was done,
They were proud of what they had wrought.
For the things they had molded into the child,
Could neither be sold or bought.
And each agreed they would have failed,
if each had worked alone.
For behind the teacher stood the school
And behind the parent, the home.

I do not know who the author of this is.
I recieved it from my sons teacher.

THE COLOR OF FRIENDSHIP
By Judy
A dog thought it wonderful
If the color of friendship was purple.
A fox figured it would be strange
To have the color of friendship orange.
Somebody once had said
The color of friendship was red.
Then someone thought they knew
The color of friendship was blue.
    According to a sunny fellow
The color of friendship was yellow.
A calico cat with a very sly wink
Purred the color of friendship was pink.
A child who did lie alot
Said the color of friendship was violet.
Someone shouted with fright
The color of friendship was white.
But I heard a sweet echo call back
Perhaps the color of friendship is black.
People said it was decreed by a queen
That the color of friendship was green.
The mayor of a friendly town
Stated the color of friendship was brown.
Maybe the man on the moon
Wondered if friendship was maroon.
A wise person said with gentle care
"No color to friendship is there."
Soon, everyone wanted to know
How this could really be so.
Friendship is having fun
While you are with someone.
Friendship is also sharing
And lots of caring.
Friendship is when you enjoy
Being with a certain girl or boy.
Yes, right from the very start
Friendship comes from the heart.
A friend who is really true
Will always stick by you.
Through trouble and strife,
A friend is your gift for life.
Just as the snow must melt
A friendship can only be felt.
Unlike paints that get duller
Friendship should have no color.

Some people come into our lives and quickly go.
Some people move our souls to dance.
They awaken us to understanding with the passing whisper of their
wisdom.
Some people make the sky more beautiful to gaze upon.
They stay in our lives for awhile, leave footprints on our hearts,
and we are never, ever the same.

 TEAR STAINED FACE
As I sit here alone
And stare into space
I notice a tear
Streaming down my face
It's a tear of many emotions
That come within deep inside my heart
The pleasure of loving you
The pain of being apart
The tears are flowing freely now
As I think of you more and more
Do you have the same feelings that I do
And are they strong enough to explore?
I would do anything in this world
If you would give me just one chance
I would devote my heart and soul
To show you true romance
So I leave it up to you now
To find a comfortable pace
Hoping you will find a way
To put a smile on this....Tear Stained Face
Thanks Allyson

The Mirror
I look at myself in the mirror,
and suddenly it all becomes unreal.
Who's these eyes?
Who looks at what?
From where does this image come?
Is the reflection real?
Or am I?

A wave rolls in
caressing the shore
passing above and below the lone grains
of beaches endless...
The man walks on
his gaze turning to each new landscape
born anew in the rush of the surf
and the chaos of the sand...
A glint
a flicker of sun
a treasure unearthed
for him alone to see...
Feet against the land
smiles gained with clarity
his closer step rewarding
in beauty found...
It approaches silently
entwined in the call of the bird
cloaked in the sun's brightness
lost amongst so many...
Fingers outstretched to grasp
but paralyzed by fear
of the wave not seen
but now the landscape of his world...
He falls
the earth unsympathetic
the water cruelly reminding
its in slide past his knees...
Wishing to cry
but fear watching intently
in that when the waves pull back
will the beauty be seen again
or lost forever in the the sea
of that which could have been...

Rebirth
Heavily loaded apple trees that bloomed in spring, now ready to fall
Turned colors from sour green to blood red waiting for you to pick.
Bees hover over sweetness that has already fallen burrowing into
the fruit too sweet to eat. Coffee filled fragrance in the air among
smells of wind astounded reminding you of the taste of sugar, or
maybe a sound for your taste buds delight captivating thoughts of
   biting sweet nectar.
A sting of life recalls work must be done, and shores overcome
with the dawn of day past, and mid morning fast approaching.
No more time to be enthralled in the rapture of stillness leaving
your senses spellbound. Work to do, trips to town, looking for
food savoring the singleness of the day. Eyes following you,
wondering why today are you here not realizing your life goes on
not following theirs. Promises have to be kept, or the steel grip of
the grave will trail after paths you have walked.
Your son, the only one, still drunk from life's walkway you have
side stepped. His life decomposing your doubt's entangling the
light you hold in your soul. Troubled, you wish you were dead, but
God safely keeps you bound so that you may seek where others
have failed. The food you savor to taste is the reason you are here,
allowing a faith-fueled heart to cry gracefully for help, opening your
tomb of sorrow. A voice you hear is yours, set out to endure,
serene questions of failure that should not have been.
A poor woman's heart, answered prayers, the day her life changed.
Glow illuminating from the loop she was caught between, walks in
valleys, deaths, births, avenues, rivers of time, things that couldn't
be given back, seemingly lost until the blank monkeys of hierarchy
answered the beat of her droopy heart allowing her to break and
run toward—home, crawling out of the game shoving the steel
grip of the grave far away help is offered to her only son.

Death Of The Innocent
                            Author: David J. Riddell
I went to a party mom, I remembered what you said.
You told me not to drink mom, so I drank soda instead.
I really felt proud inside mom, the way you said I would.
I didn't drink and drive mom, even though the others said I should.
I know I did the right thing mom,
but as I pulled out into the road, the other car didn't see me mom,
and hit me like a load.
As I lay there on the pavement mom,
I hear the policeman say: the other guy is drunk mom,
and now I'm the one who will pay.
I'm lying here dying mom, I wish you'd get here soon.
How could this happen to me mom?
My life just burst like a balloon.
There is blood all around me mom, and most of it is mine.
I hear the medic say mom, I'll die in a short time.
I just want to tell you mom, I swear I didn't drink.
It was the others mom, The others didn't think.
He was probably at the same party as I.
The only difference is he drank and I will die.
Why do people drink mom?
It can ruin your whole life.
I'm feeling sharp pains now. Pains just like a knife.
The guy who hit me is walking mom, and I don't think it's fair.
I'm lying here dying and all he can do is stare.
Tell my brother not to cry mom, Tell daddy to be brave.
And when I go to heaven mom, put "Daddy's Girl" on my grave.
Someone should have told him mom, not to drink and drive.
If only they had told him mom, I would still be alive.
My breath is getting shorter mom, I'm becoming very scared.
Please don't cry for me mom, When I needed you, you were always there.
I have one last question mom, before I say goodbye.
I didn't drink and drive, so why am I the one to die.

A Special Gift
     Author: Natalie Gingerich
Friendship is easy when you're young
You play, you jump, you skip, you run
But everything's complicated as the years go on
A whole new age begins to dawn
Your feelings go up, your feelings go down
Your entire life is spinning around
People talk, rumors spread
You need to grow close but drift apart instead
You need to work if you want to hold on
But it's hard not to give up and your friendship is pawned
All for a laugh that wouldn't laugh
That turns into tears, dark shadows are cast
You're pulled from the left,
You're pulled from the right
You really have to hang on tight
So hold my heart and hold my arm
Together we can resist all harm
Stick together through thick and thin
And throught the fog our friendship wins.
