Stewart
confirmed for UK stage role |
|
|
Look
out Leeds, there's going to be a deluge of extra visitors this June!
The reason? A rare chance to see Patrick Stewart doing what he does best
- acting on stage - at the West Yorkshire
Playhouse.
The confirmation came in
an article at the BBC
Leeds Online web site this week, but don't start ringing the box
office just yet - tickets aren't on sale until April.
The play, by Bradford born
J
B Priestley, is 'Johnson Over Jordan' - a little known work
which WYP artistic director Jude Kelly describes as "...like a Yorkshire
version of 'It's a Wonderful Life' ".
Kelly directed Patrick in
the hugely successful 1997 production of 'Othello' in Washington
D.C. and has been trying for some time to find the opportunity to have
him appear at WYP. Well done Jude! Wonder if Trevor Nunn has similar
plans for the National?
Thanks to Karen Rourk once
again for the lead!
