About Vision Quests
A solitary fasting ritual done in quest of vision and power in the form of a vision, which may or may not result in the acquisition of a helping spirit. The site for the quest may be chosen to place the seeker in a location with a sought-after spirit, and is often selected by the officiating medicine person. Knowledge gained in his vision quest lead Burnt Face, the Crow hero to make the medicine wheel as a quest site.
Puberty is a common time to undertake a vision quest, but one may seek a vision as preparation for war, or at other times of life transition. Although the acquisition of a vision is a way for an individual to receive power and distinction, vision quest may be undertaken by the visionary's community for broader benefit. The Lakota Horse Dance is a performance based on an individual vision. One performance of the Horse Dance is done according to Black Elk, the famous Oglala. The Lakota term for vision quest is Hanblapi.

We offer our Vision Quests at our Native Weekend Retreats. We provide a 24 hour, overnight Vision Quest that we like to call an hour of power. We do this on the first night of the weekend to begin the relaxation and removal of the city energy and to begin the journey of connection with your inner self.
Our purpose of the Vision Quest is to teach respect of the Native American path through the way of the Heart.
