Whispers in the
dark
Its getting late, are you going to
make it on time?
For you, I've never been able to figure
out the perfect pick up line.
You know I tried, don't you?
Tried, but the truth is, the moments
we had together were so few.
Would have loved to weave a magic
web,
Hold you in my arms forever, but you're
holding my heart captive instead.
I try to leave, but its no use,
It just doesn't seem to come loose.
You give up after trying for what
seems like forever,
Lose the last fragment of hope, watch
as it floats down the river.
And you think to yourself, as some
pieces wash to the beach,
Was it worth it; going places, that
alone I'd never reach.
At night, when sleep escapes, the
answer whispers through a vacant dream,
Taking you places, showing things
that you've never before seen.
You wake with a start, realizing that
its too late,
That the only way to it now, is through
this night gate.
So, half in sorrow, half in despair,
You close your eyes, and creep into
the beast's lair.
It shows no mercy, and that was expected,
It hates the thought of being rejected.
You stand there, for as long as your
feet permit,
Slip further and further away, with
only time cushioning each hit.
After a while, you've taken all you
can,
And you walk out, thinking yourself
to be a lesser man.
But hope is eternal, hope finds its
way back to you,
When you least expect it, it comes
from a place of which you never knew.
The color of night, pleasantly changes
a shade or two,
You embrace it, it seems like the
natural thing to do.
Breathe into the cold night air, wondering
if that was your last surrender,
Don't want to face again, this pain
you're under.
