Blood Donation and Anniversary Commemorative
Vigil to mark the 13th Anniversary of Human Rights Day in
Burma
The Burmese community in Victoria is going
to donate blood and hold the commemorative ceremony to mark
the 13th Anniversary of Human Rights Day in Burma.
Blood donation in the morning of the 13th
of March, 2001 and the commemorative ceremony in the evening
will be participated by the exile Burmese community and activists
to express their support to the struggle to restore democracy
and human rights in Burma.
" March 13 is the day we establish as Human
Rights day of Burma. We, activists in Melbourne, are going
to have blood donation and commemorative vigil to honor the
souls like Ko Phone Maw who was killed on the 13th of March
1988, followed by massive people movement for human rights
", said Mr Tay Zar Ye Tun, vice-chairman of AGHRB (Australia),
an exiled Burmese activists group dedicated to promote Human
rights in Burma.
The commemorative vigil in the evening will
be joined by Burmese community in Victoria, exile students
and supporters of democratic movement in Burma. There will
be speakers from various activist organizations and community
representatives.
