Because the United States has so many individuals who believe in many MUSHRIQ ideas. These notions are a shopping list of SHIRK .This is a impassable obstacle between them and Allah.  People who are attempting to learn Sufism and Islam must eliminate all shirk as an absolute requirement to enter the path.. You should think of shirk as  an unknown disease; that you really want to cure; because it makes you miserable every day. So what do you do? You look at every possible cause and eliminate all possible causes -one at a time until there is nothing left to consider . Then you will be cured of shirk.
