Funeral for a Hero

Funeral arrangements have been made for a fallen South Dakota soldier who died in a helicopter collision last weekend in Iraq. 33-year old Scott Saboe of Willow Lake joined the Army in 1989. He leaves behind his father, Arlo; his sister, Ann; his wife, Franceska and their six-year old son Dustin.

Saboe reached the rank of Chief Warrant Officer and was assigned to the 101st Airborne Division. He was killed in the collision of two Blackhawk helicopters.

A prayer service for Saboe will be held Tuesday night, November 25, at six at Grace Lutheran Church. The funeral will be Wednesday, November 26, in the Willow Lake High School auditorium at two, followed by burial at the Collins Cemetery - also in Willow Lake.

Private First Class Sheldon Ray Hawk-Eagle, a former Eagle Butte graduate, died in the same crash. His funeral arrangements have not been made.
