)n the 31st of March and the 1st of April, troops of the 10th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry were temporarily assigned to the U.S. Naval Landing Party in support of the Army of The Tennessee. The mission was to discuss the Navy's role in support of the Army campaign that eventually led to the control of the Tennessee and Mississippi Rivers.
