In 1953 the 39th Scout Dog Platoon re-activated to be part of the 7th Infantry Division in Korea. After training at the "Mary Ellen Ranch" at Camp (now Fort) Carson in Colorado, the unit was deployed and was used for leading patrols along the DMZ.
