A Word About Holy Eucharist

All baptized Christians are welcome and encouraged to receive communion. If you are unfamiliar with our tradition, but would like to receive, please come forward to the altar rail when the usher indicates. You may stand or kneel as you wish.

We receive communion in two kinds in the Episcopal Church. The bread and wine become the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ. Please cup your hands to receive the wafer of bread. You may either consume it at this point or wait until the lay-reader comes to you with a chalice of wine. You may dip your wafer into the chalice and consume it or take a small sip. If you are drinking from the chalice we ask that you help guide it to your lips.

If you would like to come to the altar rail for a blessing, but not communion, please cross your hands over your chest to indicate to the priest that you are not receiving, but would like a blessing instead.
