The French Arm is indeed the richest and most promising of all the branches of human space. The colonies on this arm are virtually unmatched in terms of richness and available resources.The French Arm could actually be called the European Arm since the major powers of Great Britain and the Federal Republic of Germany has close to all of their off-world assets in this sector of space. Commercial space traffic in this vast region of space is heavy, and space transports available and frequent.

The French Arm theoretically extendes all the way to the galactic core via the route that lies open from Ross 627. However, this approach is blocked by the alien race known as the Pentapods. The other direction for a further expansion lies beyond Arcturus. This route is blocked by another race which has proved both powerful and hostile; the Kafers. A large sector of the French Arm still remains only briefly surveyed; the Trans-Bootean space sector. This cluster is accessible only via DM+17 2611.
