The human sphere of surveyed space reaches some 50 lightyears across. This sphere is divided into three major branches, or so called Arms; the French Arm, the Chinese Arm and the American Arm. At the node of these arms lies The Core. The Chinese and American arms both connect to Earth via the same space corridor. This corridor, stretching from Sol to DM-26 12026, is often referred to as the Sino-American Approaches.

The French Arm holds an enourmous advantage over the other two arms as it is the only arm which is not a dead-end route. Although some systems on the American and Chinese arms are still unsurveyed, the French Arm reaches indefinately. Unfortunately, both those reaches further into unexplored space are blocked by alien races.
