The History Of Logan

I am going to speak of Logan...
As with any good story, especially one of someone so exalted.... we must begin at the beginning, as we know it that is. It is well published that in the Chaos Age, the 7th Aeon, during Danaan 1409 the first "wizard" appeared.  This wizard was Jaalyn Sarag which was the subject of my last class.  What occurred after the powers of the elements were revealed to Jaalyn was no less than cataclysmic scores of young men and women sought to gain power of the elemental magics which had suddenly arisen.  'Twas truly an utter mess with none to guide or instruct them.  They worked mainly by instinct and their own limited understanding to great harm and woe as the manipulation of the elements is both complex and dangerous, requiring incalculable finesse.  Many were wholly consumed by their mistakes, unable to tame the storms of the elements.  Some burst utterly into flames, torrential downpours unleashed without control washed away entire villages, winds swept clean crops and chasms opened unexpectedly under cities and roadways.  And now and then a poor soul attempting to fiddle with the secrets of Sal drowned upon fluid filling his own lungs.  It was as I said, an utter and complete mess until one day in Danaan 1412 an individual appeared.  Striding from town to town, a most elusive and engaging man to be certain, he went far and wide and let the word ring out "come to me and I shall teach you" is all he said. He strolled cross the countryside demonstrating a mastery over the elements that was uncanny and to this very day knows no rival.  He seemed not to so much control or master the elements but almost to play with them as friends.  When asked whom he was and from whence he had come, he would answer only this: "I am Logan, and I am born of gnosis."  Now to any who may miss the significance of this the word gnosis can be summarized to mean simply "knowledge".  He gathered all who answered his summons and began a course of instruction.  Not only to aid in the discovery of the elemental secrets, but also to steel the minds of the students so that discipline and restraint would grow within their minds, making their will virtually stronger than anything heretofore imagined for THAT is the true secret of modern wizardry discipline, will and restraint. This is the embodiment of the finesse required to wield the elements, the melding of these qualities that enable one to subtly tap into the elements and shape them to our purpose without unleashing them in an uncontrolled manner.  For many ages Logan presided over his students in what became known as "The Acadamie Arcanus" of which the present Acadamie is a successor.  His efforts at melding not only the minds of wizards but also their ethics is legendary and shaped wizardry as we know it.  Not to mention his contributions that served to end the shadow wars by the discovery of the light element and the construction of the city lamps which contain this element and hold the dubhaim at bay. But this does not explain it all, for Logan had a rapport with Luathas unparalleled and seemed always to know the mind of Luathas. Logan's efforts and trials lasted through Aeons, and he led the Acadamie all the way up to its final destruction in Danaan 3267 during the Aeon of Shadow.  Now as I hinted at before, you all have met him and he continues to be the most powerful force in wizardry today. He now resides within the Wizard's Hall of the temple of choosing and if you listen closely when a young Aisling is first initiated into the path of wizardry you can to this day hear his ancient words "come to me and I shall teach you.... I am Logan, born of gnosis".  Now, as to who he exactly is and what he means by "born of gnosis" this is the true mystery, one which I have thought long and hard upon and exhausted ancient scrolls to discover.  Though no evidence of his origins exist his mastery of the elements, and his seeming immortality, never having aged or been touched by time in all the ages that have passed seem to speak of what in my humble opinion is a certainty. He simply cannot be of mundane birth, nor is he an Aisling by any means. He is something much older, much grander and much more glorious. I can only conclude, though I have not one shred of evidence, that he is a survivor of the race of Hy-Brasyl that somehow escaped the floods that destroyed it. as we can see, this would serve as a logical bridge between what we know as modern wizardry and the talents of the race of hy-brasyl this concludes my lecture upon Logan of the Temple of Choosing.
