This guy took a rental dozer into a muddy spot at the bottom of the hill below the mine. Buried it to the floor, and in some nasty muck. It took another, much bigger machine to get it out.
Not far from that, but several years earlier, this Hough loader, with a 7 and 1/2 yard bucket, got stuck right in the road. I warned the guy not to try to bring it out, but what did I know?
It weighed 79,000 pounds, and was made for a quarry, not a remote placer mine. I let them screw around with it for a couple of days, and then told them how to get it out. They eventually blew over $500,000 on just such acts.
