A 28-foot construction office
trailer was donated to the Verde Valley Humane Society for use as office
space at its Mingus Avenue facility.
The VVHS will pay for the cost of delivery by Williams
Scotsman in Phoenix.
"We are thrilled to have this opportunity to
expand our offices and make more of our current space usable for the
animals and our clients. the city is allowing us a temporary
permit for this unit." said Judy Finch, executive director of the
VVHS.
"Our present space includes 46 dog kennels, with
construction ongoing for five more, and 42 cages for cats. animals
are brought tot us by the City of cottonwood, Yavapai County, Camp
Verde, Clarkdale and the Yavapai Apache Nation Animal control
officers. It is then up to us to try to find homes for all these
animals and/or make the difficult decision to euthanize when it's the
only choice. We also receive strays from individuals in any
community, and, of course, we take in those animals whose owners can no
longer care for them." |

VVHS Board Member Peter Sesow said, "At the Verde
Valley Humane Society, we are doing our part. We house as many
animals as we can and make every effort to reunite animals with their
owners. at this point, it's up to those who love animals to make
sure that they, and their neighbors and their friends understand how
critical it is to have all pets spayed or neutered to prevent the
ongoing problem of animal euthanasia."
Deborah Darby, who once reported a missing cat to VVHS
said, "They called me with reports of cats that looked like my
little Elwood. You've got to give them credit - they stayed right
on top of the missing animal reports and called me three times over a
period of several months. I certainly appreciated that. And
even if Elwood did just wander off and take up residence somewhere else,
at least he was fixed, thanks to Animal Aid Network, so he won't be
adding to the overpopulation problem. I'm grateful for both these
fine organizations."
