i think the greeks should have been the end of everything. i mean if you think about it, we erally take all of western civ's idea of culture and thought from the greek's; you don't see a bunch of armor -clad gladiators walking around (the movie Gladiator's fans not withstanding). So it's not like the Romans left us much in any way departing from the greeks. Hell, they stole their culture from them and the Etruscans. So really, the world should have just blown up or something after the greeks dies. Maybe I got this idea from reading "Remembering Hericlitus" in Barnes n Noble about a half hour ago.
