God Bless The Heros

As a child I watched TV
And saw heros save the day
They wore red capes and cowboy hats
And drove bad guys away.

And as I grew, my heros
Took on a different form
My heros were my mom and dad
Who loved and kept us warm

Throughout my life, my heros
Were family and friends,
Teachers, neighbors, clergymen
Unselfish guidance they extend

So many I’ve looked up to
For guidance and advice
We all need heros in our life
To make each day feel nice

Not everything in life is good
As some wear hearts of black
On one fine September day
Such evilness did attack

I stood in shock and tearfully watched
As flames ripped through the towers
Such inhumanity did occur
Within those darkest hours

There were more explosions
As they hit the Pentagon
My heart yelled out for it to "stop!"
But so many lives were gone
One missing flight named ninety- three
Was somewhere still in flight
With all the terror going on
I cried in desperate fright
Little did the world know then
That heros would victims be
They fought and turned the plane around
And brought terror to its knees

Soon the world would know the story
Of the brave ones on that flight
They saved so many lives that day
Although they lost the fight.

Soon the Towers would have to fall
While four thousand angels flew
We’ll not forget the heros, brave
And most we never knew

Our freedom will not ever fall
As the towers did that day
As heros are fighting for us all
Many thousand miles away

And through the piles of rubble
Our heros search and pray
To find the souls of angels
Who lost their lives that day

There are so many heros
And you and I are too
Hand in hand, together we stand
When we wave the red, white, and blue

Dedicated to the heros and victims
of the September 11th terrorist attacks
