Birthstone: Aquamarine

Flower: Jonquil

Bird: The Robin

A voice went through the emerald land
And "Wake, wake, wake Robin, " cried,
A brook burst out in laughter sweet
And straight the winter sighed.

March 2002

March is the month of transition, the month of promises, and the month of miracles. If any month underscores my faith and beliefs in God, it would be this month. In the Texas Panhandle, the month of March usually comes in like the proverbial lion and usually leaves the same way. It can be a month of snow and ice, of dust and wind and let us not forget the familiar "twister" that is our weather symbol of spring!

But on a gentler note, March is a rebirth--the promise of sweeter days, of milder, warming temperatures, and the re-awakening of the Earth. Even the harsh Texas Plains will yield to God's gift of wildflowers and growing things, transforming the rugged land into a quilt of color and a rainbow of the promises of spring.

Spring reminds me always, of God's greatest promise--eternal life. Our Savior, Jesus Christ, showed us the way nearly 2,000 years ago and His sacrafice, became the greatest gift to mankind.

Springtime--the awakening, the reminder, the promise, the time is here.

Rejoice!
