Test Type

Unit 01 is the first Eva shown in the series. The designated pilot for Unit 01 is Shinji Ikari. There appears to be something special about Unit 01 because Commander Ikari always preserves and protects Unit 01 from any dangers. In episode 19, it was reveiled that Unit 01 has an S2 unit, the same power source that the angels have.
