At the airport.
If you told me,
NOT to leave,
I wouldn't have left you.

As I was walking
Down the steps
And across the pavement
to my plane.

I wanted to run back
Into your arms
Back to you and our dog.

I can still hear him howl.
As I got out of the truck.
At the airport.
That October day.

My heart was very heavy, dear.
Filled with sorrow,
and sadness.
For we had to part.

You have to do
What you need to do.
For your own
Peace of mind.

I'm yours, darling.
I will wait for you.
I am your Lady
and you are my Man.

SAD DAY FOR ME TOO

Back at camp,
Our home.
How utterly lonely,
It is here my darling.

It became horribly lonely,
As you walked
To your plane.

I stood by the window,
And I watched,
My angel fly away.

As your plane,
Grew smaller and smaller,
And finally,
Vanished from my view.

The lump in my throat,
Got larger and larger.
Such a gloom hung over,
I was unable to smile.

Our dog became,
very nervous and upset.
I gave him a pig's ear.
BUT
It was not enough, my love.
Something was missing. "YOU".
I could tell he wasn't happy too.

I petted him.
Thinking how much,
You two and I,
Joined in spirit,
Body and soul.

I have just lit,
Our oil lamp.
So very many pleasant,
Memories my love.

This lump in my throat,
Will not go away, darling.
The past two weeks,
Were the most,
Wonderful two weeks,
Of my life.

I love you
