I sighed, looking at A.J. "Are you sure? I mean, I'm sure Gran is in the book." But A.J. shook his head. "I'd rather make sure you get home, besides it's on the way." He laughed, "Now stop being so nice and help me find the damn car! Nick," he said, turning to Abby and Nick, "Do you remember where I parked my car?" "Right next to mine." Abby said. "Well where's your car parked?" A.J. asked. "Over there." Abby said, nodding in the direction we were heading. "Alright." A.J. said. We came up to Abby's car, a midnight blue BMW. "Holy shhhhh... crap" I said under my breath, cutting the curse off short. A.J. laughed but said nothing. "Nice huh?" Abby said. I nodded. "It's phat." I told her. "It was a present from Nick-Nack." She told me as Nick turned around and leaned on the car, facing us. "You bought Abby a BMW!? How the hell can you afford it?" I asked. "Umm, I have a job?" Nick replied sarcasticly. "Doing what?" I gave Nick an incredulous look. "You a drug dealer?" I asked, only half-serious. A.J. and Abby burst out into laughs as Nick chuckled softly saying, "Oh yea Mandy, I'm dealin'. But now that I've told you my secret I'm afraid I'm gonna have to kill ya." "Umm, no?" I asked. "I'd much rather prefer you didn't. Cause If I go home in a cedar box, Mom might not be too happy." "Well okay, but only for your mother's sake." Nick told me, a mischievous twinkle entering his blue eyes. Finally he was opening up to me! "Thanks, it's much appreciated." I told him. "Where's your car A.J.? Is it as phat as Abby's?" A.J. chuckled. "Naw, it's way tighter." he took my arm and pulled me tward a bright yellow BMW, a space or two over. "Ahh! How come you all have tight cars!? You all are drug dealers, that's it, I'm calling the FBI and collecting the rewards on your asses so I can afford a BMW!" I told him, another curse slipping out. I was trying my best not to cuss, but it wasn't very effective. A.J. laughed. "Get in please? I ain't got all day." He had already gotten in, and opened my door from the inside. I laughed and climbed in, shoving my bags into the back. "You drive like a maniac?" I asked, turning into my mother for a moment. "Woah! Hold up, don't answer that one." I told him, shaking my head. A.J. laughed. "Turn into my mother for a moment there?" he asked. "Your mother? No, I coulda sworn that was mine." I said with a laugh. "Oh, well then your mother and my own should get together someday." A.J. told me with a smile. By now we were following Nick, who was driving Abby's car for some reason. Musta been a control thing, I thought with a chuckle. "So Mandy, how old are ya?" A.J. asked. "Eighteen. You?" "Twenty." He told me. "Nick swore up and down to me that you were only sixteen." I laughed. "Really? I dunno if that's good or bad..." A.J. laughed. "Me either. I think it's good though." "Okay my turn. Where you from?" I asked. "West Palm beach, here in Florida." He told me. "You?" "Honestly? Or do you wanna know what I tell everyone?" I asked with a laugh. "Honestly. I'm sure it's not that bad." He told me. "Okay, you remember I gave you a choice though. I'm from Iowa." I said. "Woah, Iowa?" He repeated, glancing at me for a moment. I laughed. "Don't make it seem like I have the plague or something!" "Sorry, you just have the whole West Coast accent thing going..." he said. "Well I've lived in NY for awhile now, and my mom is orriginaly from New York." I told him. "Ah, okay. My turn now, hmm. You seeing anyone back home?" He asked suddenly. SO suddenly in fact, that it took me a moment to even register what he had asked. "Erm," I said, giving a nervous chuckle. "No, not really." I was about to ask him the same question, but he cut my thoughts off saying, "I think we're about there." I nodded, turning my gaze from him to the road. "Yea, go up like two blocks more and make a left, it's her driveway, I think." I told him. He complied, and Nick, who had somehow ended up behind us, followed. I was right. We pulled into the circular drive in front of Gran's place. "Your gran lives here, and you're NOT driving a BMW?" A.J. asked, looking up at the huge place. "Nope, I've not seen any of her money since my mom and dad split." I told him, pulling my bags from the car as I climbed out. "Yours are divorced too?" He asked, and I nodded. "Come on in guys, I might as well introduce you. You've got some time don'cha?" I asked, looking at Nick. "Sure, we can go in for awhile, we've got time." Nick said. "Great, come on, an' meet my granny." I said, grabbing A.J.'s arm and pulling him to the door. I opened the door and called out. "Conrad!? Gran!? You guys around?" "Ah, Mandy. You're home! Oh, and you've brought friends!" Gran said, appearing at the top of the huge staircase that was staright ahead from the door. "Yeah Gran. Come meet them?" I asked. "Well, yes. Of course!" Gran said, making her way down the stairs. "Well if it isn't A.J. and Nick! How are you boys!?" Gran said as she got close enough to recognise them. "You know my grandma guys?" I asked, suddenly confused. "Well of course they do, they're-" Gran started. "Friends of Justin." Nick said, cutting her off. Gran got a wierd look on her face, but nodded. "Right." she said. "Well I've got more things to do. You boys planning to stay for dinner?" she asked. "Okay, sure." Nick said. "Tha'd be cool." A.J. said. "Abby, you staying as well hun?" Gran asked. "If it would be okay." She said. "Of course it's okay!" Gran ammended. She then left to go tell Conrad about the extra guests. I turned and hit A.J. on the arm. "Ow! What the hell was that for!?" he asked angrily. "You lied to me! You didn't tell me you knew anything about me, my cousin, or my grandma! You either Nick!" I glared at him. "Abby, you failed to mention anything to me either! I want to know what's up, and I wan't to know now!" I looked at them all, fury flashing in my bright gold eyes. "Alright, alright. I'll tell you." A.J. said with a sigh. "Great, finally I'll know what the hell is going on 'round here." I said. BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP!!!!! rang in my ears. "Shit, my pager. Mandy, got a phone?" A.J. asked, pulling his pager out of the pocket of his huge Tommy khakis. I sighed. "Follow me." I led him to the hall phone. I then left him to make his call in privacy. I went and sat on the stairs, Nick and Abby still standing in front of me. "Okay, either of you care to tell me what's up?" I asked with a sigh. They said nothing. A.J. returned from the hall. "That was B-Rok. He just wanted to make sure we remembered." he told Nick and Abby, who nodded. "Okay Mandy, as I was saying-" A.J. continued, but Conrad came in and said, "Dinner is served." I sighed and followed Conrad into the dining room, the other's following. I knew we couldn't continue our convo at dinner, Gran was too mannerly and formal for that. We made idle convo during the meal, and I tried my best to be pleasant and warm. After supper we excused ourselves and I told Gran we were going up to my room. She nodded and excused us. As we passed the front door to go up the front stairs to my room, the doorbell rang. How damn convienient, I thought as I called out, "I got it Conrad!" and went and opened the door. I about fainted at the hot guys I found behind it. "Um, hi. Is Nick and A.J. here?" asked this cute guy with soft blue eyes and dirty blonde hair. Behind him stood a tall, equally hot guy, with short spikey dark hair, and sexy dark eyes. Next to him stood a guy with chin length wavy hair, deep eyes, and a sweet smile. I stuttered to find my voice. "Um, they.. they're here. Yea, they're here." I told him, as I opened the door, "Come on in." "Great, thanks." "Yo, A.J., Nick, your friends are here!" I called. A.J. poked his head from the hall. "Yo! B! Kev! D! There you guys are! What took so long!?" He said, making his way to us. "Sorry, traffic was hell." said the tall guy with the dark spikey hair and dark eyes. "It's alright. You're here now. Yo! Nick! Abby! Stop mackin' and get out here!" A.J. called. The guys laughed. "So who might you be?" asked the guy with the great blue eyes. "I'm Mandy. This is my house." I told him with a smile. "Who are you?" "Your house? I coulda sworn this was Carol's house. But I'm Brian, or B-Rok as the guys call me." he said, flashing me a sincere smile. "Sorry Mandy! I forgot to introduce ya! Guys, this is Mandy, Carol's grandaughter. She's here for the summer. Mandy meet Kev," he pointed to the tall guy. "Howie D, or D as I call him," he nodded to the guy with the long hair and sweet smile. "and Brian." "We've already met." Brian pointed out. "Yo, Frack! Ya dead?" Brian called, obvously talking to Nick. "No! Not yet!" Nick called back. "Then what the hell you doing!?" Brian called. "Do you REALLY wanna know?!" Abby called back. "Nevermind!!!" Brian called, laughing. "Stop mackin' it up in my granny's house!" I yelled. They both walked out of the hallway. "Alright alright, chill." Nick said. "A.J., you ever gonna explain THIS to me?" I said, motioning to the large crowd that had gathered in my house. "Um, oh yea." A.J. said. "We're a music group. Under the same label as your cuz Justin, these are my bandmates, except Abby of course." A.J. said. "That clear it up for ya?" "No not really. Why didn't you just tell me that!?" I asked. "Bone, she dunno that we're-?" Howie asked. "No, she doesn't." Nick said, cutting him off. "But she knows of your music, and she likes it." Abby put in. "Why didn't you tell her man?" Kev asked. "She seems nice enough, she won't freak." Brian put in. "WILL EVERYONE STOP TALKING OVER ME LIKE I'M DUMB HERE?!" I yelled, tired of it. "Everyone out! I'm already sick of it!" I said, pulling open the door. I didn't need people who considered me dumb, petty, immature, or anything that I wasn't. "Mandy, Mandy, Mandy, relax okay?" A.J. said, looking at me. "No, I will not relax, either tell me or don't. Don't dance around the subject okay?" "Alright! God damn! We're not just some worthless band, we're famous, okay? Since you had no idea who or what I was I decided to take advantage of it. It's so hard to find a person who will treat me as a person, not the famous singer." he paused. "Mandy, we're the Backstreet Boys." A.J. said gently.
