- Ted Danson will be
returning to series-television this season starring opposite Mary Steenburgen in the
highly anticipated sitcom, ''Ink" for CBS. Danson will also serve as executive
producer on the series, which is being produced by Dreamworks.

- Danson most recently
was seen portraying Lemuel Gulliver in the Hallmark Entertainment presentation of the
Robert Halmi produced, four-hour mini-series "Gulliver's Travels" for NBC. The
mini-series, which was based on the 18th Century novel by Jonathan Swift, told the story
of an Englishman who was lost at sea and traveled to strange lands on his eight-year
journey home. The series earned the network its highest ratings for a mini-series in nine
years.
- Danson will also be
seen this fall on the big screen in Gramercy's "Loch Ness." As Dr. John Dempsey,
a down-and-out zoologist, he is reluctant to go to Loch Ness, Scotland to debunk the
century-old myth which surrounds the celebrated creature. The film also stars Jerry
Richardson.
Danson
charmed television audiences worldwide with his portrayal of the tall, dark and handsome
Sam Malone, a role he played for 12 years on NBC's hit comedy series "Cheers.'' the
role earned him the Golden Globe in ] 989 and 1990, the Emmy Award in 1990 and 1993, as
well as several additional Emmy nominations. The last episode of the series was the second
highest rated television finale in history. 
- Prior to
"Cheers," Danson made his mark with film critics and audiences alike in two high
profile features: Joseph Wambaugh's "The onion Field" in 1979 and Lawrence
Kasdan's "Body Heat" in 1981. His popularity skyrocketed in 1987 when he starred
opposite Tom Selleck and Steve Guttenberg in Touchstone pictures' box office smash
"Three Men and a Baby." In 1989, filmgoers saw a different side to Danson when
he played a serious and romantic leading man opposite Isabella Rosselini in Paramount
Pictures' "Cousins." Later that year, he gave a heart-felt performance as a
father and son opposite Jack Lemmon and Olympia Dukakis in Universal's "Dad." In
1990, Danson reteamed with Selleck and Guttenberg in the successful Touchstone sequel,
"Three Men and a Little Lady." in 1993 he teamed with Whoopi Goldberg in the
Warner Bros. hit comedy "Made in America," which was an international success.
He also starred in "Getting Even with Dad" and the sentimental road picture
"Pontiac Moon."
- Danson made his debut
as a producer with the critically acclaimed NBC movie- of-the-week, "When the Bough
Breaks" in 1986. He also starred in the project as a child psychologist who helps the
police solve a children's murder case. In 1984, he won the Golden Globe Award for Best
Actor for his performance in "Something About Amelia," an ABC motion picture for
television which was produced by Leonard Goldberg. The stunning drama about incest also
starred Glenn Close and remains one of television's most highly acclaimed and highly rated
projects.
- Raised in the
"Ponderosa Country" outside Flagstaff, Arizona, Danson entered Stanford
University and became interested in drama during his second year. When he transferred to
Carnegie Tech, he continued to focus on acting. After graduation, he was hired as an
understudy in Tom Stoppard's off-Broadway production, "The Inspector Hound.''
- Danson appeared in
several of Joseph Papp's "Shakespeare in the Park" productions and in many
commercials before landing roles in the NBC daytime drama, "The Doctors" and
"Somerset."
- Danson moved to Los
Angeles in 1978 to mannage the Actor's Institute for a year and a half while he taught
there. Six months after his arrival Danson eared the role of Officer Ian Campell in
"The Onion Field." He also co-starred as Lee Remicks insensitive husband in the
TV movie ''The Women's Room."
- In addition to acting
and producing, Danson devotes his time to the Americans Oceans Campain (AOC), an
organization he founded in 1987 to alert Americans to the life-threatening hazards created
by oil spills, offshore development, toxic wastes, sewage pollution and other ocean
abuses. With offices in Santa Monica and Washington DC, the AOC works to show citizens how
they can participate in protecting and restoring marine resources, and to show Congress
that Americans are concerned with these issues.
