Bucyrus Blitz Traveling Baseball Hello and welcome to the Bucyrus Blitz Web Site. We have just completed our 10th successful season. We have been one of the most successful baseball programs in Ohio, since 1989. The Blitz was founded by Ron Dixon and myself, Steve Wengerd. Originally we played tournaments, only after our local youth league was finished. When the boys turned 13, we took the show on the road full time.
Our first season we played in the North Central Ohio League, running away with the league championship. We moved to the Central Ohio Amatuer Baseball (C.O.A.B.F.) Federation League for 5 seasons, failing to win a league championship only once. C.O.A.B.F. is the same organization that produced great players like Ken Griffey Jr. and Paul Oniel. We participate in the C.A.B.A. (Continental Amateur Baseball Association) tournaments. We have competed well in tournaments over the years and were fortunate enough to play in the 1994 C.A.B.A. 15 Year Old World Series, in Crystal Lake Illinois, finishing in the upper bracket. We will be representing Ohio again this year in Crystal Lake at the 1999 C.A.B.A. World Series.. Our goal has been to provide the opportunity for our local players to compete against the best competition in the state and beyond to prepare them for High School Baseball or even College. Several of our players in our first group were offered an opportunity to continue their education through baseball. Because of compition for time with Basketball and football, we had to finally look outside our community for players. However we always shopped Bucyrus first! We have provided this opportunity for the kids in our area, while never charging a fee to play while many teams are charging fees of $450 - $900 each to play. Many thanks to our local sponsors and our parents who have helped with fund raisers for making this possible.
