young bull moose

This young Bull Moose lived during a time when moose hunting was closed in the state of Maine. The following year the season was re-opened and a limited number of tags were issued on a lottery basis. Successfull entrants had to be accompanied on their hunt by a wildlife conservation officer.

night visitor

A "camp raiding" coon can be a real nuisance, but this fellow provided some entertainment for the long evenings in camp with not much else to do. With proper gear stowage and precautions, there was no serious problems from his nightly visits.

charlie's rig

Most mountain folk live with the prospect of having to do "hard work" in order to make a decent living. Logging operations are often conducted by only a few individuals who do the felling, trimming, skidding, loading and hauling. My friend Charlie Schweitzer of Forksville PA. has worked all phases of logging and spent thousands of hours in his "K-Whopper" rig.

hunter's sunrise

No matter what plans you have made for the day, they will go better if a sunrise greets you at the onset.
