Pictures of the Grand Canyon

Here are just a few shots of the GC. More are on the way!

This is the Bright Angel Campground, at the bottom of the GC. Two rows of sites, totalling about 25, sit alongside this small creek, which leads to the Colorado. Balmy and amazingly quiet, every site is great (flat, with a table and metal boxes to keep food from critters) and the campground has real bathrooms (no showers). This shot was taken on the way out, from the bridge that crosses the creek.

Our tent was just a few inches too short, but we were so tired, we didn't care.

Here's Jack the morning before we hiked out, putting on his shoes and breaking down camp.

This is Phantom Ranch, which is just next to the Bright Angel Campground. Most of it was built in the 1920s. Supplies are still carried down by mule, but they have a couple of helicopters arriving daily to. If you get lucky, you can stay in once of these adorable stone cottages. Phantom Ranch also has a canteen that sells drinks and snacks.

7:45 a.m., Jack took this picture of me on the creek bridge as we leave the campground for our hike out—before the canteen opened.

Point being, no coffee. My shoulders are already aching!
