Ami is a child genius. She was discovered to be a Sailor Senshi when the cram school/computer school she attended was attacked by Jedite's youma. The second scout to be found, she is the senshi of intelligence, and water. Sailor Mercruy's attacks are mostly defensive, making her the weakest of all the gang.
